Free Style Things change, even when you don’t want them too It’s coming…there are SIGNS Things were always somewhat of a routine when Brandon was a kid, even though his mother had died a year after his birth, Brandon was a smart child. He knew that everyone got up at seven, breakfast was at eight-thirty, the chores where done by eleven, lunch was noon, he got a snack a three and dinner was at seven-thirty, and bed time was at eight-fifteen. The best thing about dinner was that dessert always immediately followed. Even after his mom died the routine continued, yet there was an air of sadness that fell over his father and he channeled that into making sure he didn’t let down his first wife. If it was up to his father, all of his children would be models of society and it seemed that it would go that way. That was until his father remarried and that woman was anything but orderly, from the moment she came Brandon had his doubt on how long she would last but his dad was smitten. If anyone deserved happiness it was his father so in the only act of genuine kindness he would ever preform for the rest of his childhood and possibly teen years he tried his hardest to accept her. Pre-invasion of the Brandon Holden was somewhat of a middle child, obviously since there was four it was hard to tell but between the boys he was smack dead in the middle. He supposed Evelyn didn’t count because she was girl and the only girl. Naturally you would assume she would be spoiled but their father was the sort of man who held all his children to the same standards. That one standard was to follow the rules and not stray too far from life on the straight and narrow. While Brandon and the others never had to want for anything, they definitely weren’t handed anything without hard work. Of course there are times when the siblings argued and fussed which was handled by loss of privileges and boring family meetings. Brandon grew up in house that encouraged creativity so long as it didn’t break their father’s rules. There was always the notion that when they grew up they would get a boring nine to five job and have two point five kids. His family even lived in the clichéd two story house with a picket fence and a tree swing in the front yard. He even started playing that Piano when he was seven and the guitar when he was eight so long as he kept out of trouble and got good grades. Brandon however had always been a little snob and maybe a bit on the douche side. It’s not that he thought he was better than everyone he just figured everyone could use some improvement now and then. Okay maybe it was all the time, it’s not his fault everyone in the world has sooo many flaws and he was too busy hiding his behind numerous amounts of good deeds he didn’t notice his own. At first he was genuine wanting to help people that were less fortunate because he was grateful for the fact that he had everything he could ever want. Then as he got older, it just became more and more about the image and not about the message. It started when their father finally remarried, it’s not like it was a surprise because no one liked being alone. Even so, what came after was bit of shock….they came…the step-siblings. Run…Run for your life, they’re invading Perhaps the Holden’s were the ones invading and Brandon knew for a fact that Shay and Andrew weren’t at fault for them moving from New York to live in place where all the accent were awfully clichéd. So maybe he did have a Brooklyn accent and liked coffee way more than he should, it didn’t matter. All that mattered was everything was hectic and he had to blame someone. Considering the fact Evelyn and Owen went AWOL he was the one left to keep up the order in his life. Of course that’s when it really started. Brandon had always subtly been a douchebag but it came more once he started, he decided that he would become a vegetarian even though he didn’t necessarily like animals. As a matter of fact he and his father had been on a couple of hunting trips, when deer was in season. No longer was he addicted to coffee but soy lattes were his favorite. His guitar was another thing that was compromised so many days after class were spent under the tree dawning sandals and singing about the environment. What’s worse than that, he didn’t even outwardly show hate for his step-brother. He did however stick up his nose at the boy, always criticizing him for eating meat, staying up late and his music. He would never admit that he liked the boy’s music or that he liked the fact the boy wasn’t as bad as his siblings made him out to be. Brandon always goes to be by nine pm, always lecturing his siblings that they should do the same. He talked his father into replacing all the fruits and vegetables in the house with organic stuff, even the teas are organic. He’d taken to wearing sandals and helping out at animal shelters just to say he did. It just increased his extreme dislike of animals, but not once did he ever break a rule his father had set. If anything he study harder, avoided his siblings unless he was lecturing them and wrote real music for himself and the stupid douche music for whenever he was in public. Beneath the surface…quick look…HE”S HUMAN Underneath it Brandon is actually a nice guy, he would help an old lady across the street and spend time with little kids across the orphanage. The only problem is that he has so much anger about moving from his home and going to school some place across the world. If he wasn’t spending all his time channeling his anger into being the ultimate douche, he would’ve seen that he had a bit more in common with shay than would think. Music ran through both their hearts and if Brandon admired anything about Shay it would be the music. Sadly he’s so blinded by his anger he can’t see past his self and that’s where things go wrong. There are times when no one is around that the walls come down but it’s rare that it would ever happen for jus anybody and if his family is around forget it. He’s completely happy with being able to secretly terrorize his siblings and his parents remain none the wiser. Though if someone were to get past the walls perhaps they would finally see that the real Brandon is only a fourth of the douche bag he normally is because honestly…it does have to come from somewhere Let's us all just be friend, And together we can start a new trend. |
