Her hair was born neon blue during her arrival, and as if it isn't queer enough, it later turned royal purple and then blonde and faded back to black by the end of the long day. June Caroline Henderson (nee Jewell) is her mother, she passed away three days after her birth. Gisella's father, Courtney George Henderson fell into despair ever since, often indulge in alcohol and drugs for escape. Young Gisella was passed to an elf nanny to look after. It was still a rather fortunate childhood, she has still a home, someone is taking care of her, and it was not like she remember much. That was the night things changed, her father was arrested for criminal offense, the drunk man used magic on a muggle. After three trials at courts, he was send to Azkaban, sentence for five years. Even though she was then at the care of an elf, no one in the wizarding world would trust an elf to fully look after a young child. The ministry has to take Gisella away and sent her to her mother's distant family in Scotland. The only family left for this girl, Gisella's grandmother's mother's sister's direct descendant. The Sinclairs which wanted nothing to do with her or her bastard family of blood traitors and mudbloods. Gisella's great-grandmother abandoned the family and ran away to another part of the world, her grandmother was married to a mudblood, both serious offenses a pureblood family won't forget. However they have no reason not to take in this young girl, still chubby and innocent at the young age of three, but very soon, not anymore. She was being ordered to sleep in the broom cupboard downstairs by the kitchen, on the floor with an used mattress and thin blanket made out of old clothes, and a trunk for her to keep some hand-me-downs clothes and worn slippers. There was no toys for her apart from the old stuffed bunny she brought along with her. Gisella's family now consist of a very mean grandmother, a very lazy uncle, his wife and a cousin who's barely a year older than her. As soon as the girl is capable, she was being sent to do house chores, deemed to the level of an elf. She cleans she cooks she do the laundry, and by hands too. The family doesn't like her, she knows it, she could feel it in her bones. But there was no one else, they are her only family. The version of father she was told whenever she asked was a dead man, died along with her blasted mother they said, there was no one for you. So she could only obey whatever command she was given and get things done for the Sinclairs family. Not an easy life, especially when there's another life you can compared to. Her cousin, Wallace, is the golden child. All that he asked for was given the best, he has various lessons throughout the day, of etiquette and swimming and piano and art; while Gisella, all she ever had is house chores and hand-me-downs a few sizes too big for her, and occasional books she picked up from the friendly lady selling bread in the market. She pitied Gisella, and she could tell, Gisella has a strange good skill at reading people. Came Wallace's tenth birthday, he's got a toy broomstick of his dream. Hidden in her small room she peeked out the window as the boy hover three feet above ground, desperately learning to fly, but he isn't a good flier, it is somewhat satisfying to note. Maybe Gisella hasn't notice, but she has grown jealous of her cousin, not a trait too hard to understand too, being through what she been through as a child, she determined not to let emotion shows, kept her head down and do her work. Her tenth birthday came with nothing, just like a normal day, well maybe a tad worse than normal because that was the day her grandmother asked her to change all curtains in the house. By the time she gets to go back to her room and rest - the Sinclairs preferred to have her out of sight when she's not working, better to tuck the unwanted away than seeing her annoying face they said - she was exhausted and fell asleep with a strange dream. A noise woke her up in the middle of the night, she woke to see her uncle in her room, in hush voice telling her to be quiet, that he won't harm her he said. But he was touching her, his giant, fat hand on her lap, massaging her suggestively, it sent through her a disgust taste of repulsion. That's when magic happened, it had her uncle yelped and pulled back his hand, it was bleeding like something cut him. He slapped her, called her names and left the room. Her dread of a harder life never happened, perhaps her uncle was too afraid to confess what he tried to do to her to complained, the lingering disgust filled her thought when she saw his bandaged hand the next day. Her uncle dare not to do anything more after, and she was grateful of that. Came their eleventh birthday and Wallace gotten his Hogwarts letter, and what came surprise was she too, gotten hers, even though her birthday is not in three months later she's in the same year as he is. The family arranged one trip to Diagon Alley to get both children their school needs, not like they both gets the same treatment, it never has been the same and never will be. Wallace gotten everything new while hers are all from second-hand shops. It was only because they have no choice that they allowed Gisella to get her wand from Ollivander's. Oh and what marvelous wand it was. Its surface rich brown color, Chechem wood, also known as Black poisonwood, most suitable for a wayward caster. It's core a Phoenix tail feather, one suited for a strong-willed wizard or witch. It is thirteen inches long, straight and polished, one would said it is the rarest and finest wand she had held in her hand that day. That it chosen her, her a mere half-blood child who has nothing under her muggle name. When they left the shop Gisella thought she saw a hint of hatred passed Wallace's face. Well, being hated, just the story of her life, she was rather pleased to hold that in her heart. September first, they all went to King Cross Station to board the train to Hogwarts. The others had Wallace surrounded, no one even paid the girl any attention, which suited her fine. She boarded the train after loading in her trunk, a friendly third year helped her with it, he introduced himself as Leon McCall, and even invited Gisella to sit with them. Unsure how to reject him, the girl went joined him and his group of friends, mostly Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors they are, and even two Ravenclaw, it doesn't surprise Gisella why there were no Slytherin, if Slytherins are people like those in her "family". She was welcomed there, even when this girl came off as shy and quiet. Noisily, they all filled her in about things in Hogwarts, what's to look out for, how's each house behaving. They put a smile on the girl's face, smile that felt foreign on her face. The First Years were to cross the lake in a boat to the castle, Gisella very soon found herself stuck with Wallace. Even she wasn't sure why he won't avoid her now that he has his own pureblood friends to hang out with. The boat trip wasn't all that pleasant like many students would like it, she has Wallace chatting away beside her, taunting her and scaring the other students by saying things like the giant squid living below the lake could take them down with just a wave of its tentacles. It was all Gisella could do to bite her tongue and endure the ride, more so she was trying not to push Wallace down to the lake herself just so the giant squid could get him. Perhaps she's just a weakling deep within. Not a hope to be in Gryffindor then. The castle was so magnificent it could take anyone's breath away, Gisella looked around eagerly as she followed the other students into the Great Hall, where sorting ceremony would occurs. In the middle of the room sat an old hat, too old and with too many patches making her wonder who would still wear that. She gasped in surprise when the hat sang a song about Hogwarts, never expected that. After the song ended, the sorting ceremony started. Gisella was in the middle of the queue, when her name was called, she stumbled up the steps and sit down on the stool, a professor placed the hat on her head. Hmm... let's see, plenty of potential here, smart, yes. Lots of desires, desire to prove yourself, hmm... To be something greater than everyone ever see you be, I see, I see. I can see the potential of Slyrtherin in you... But no? You do not want to be a Slytherin? No my child, they are not always cunning, and not all of them are dark wizards, many of them are marvelous person who are also loyal and brave, the Slytherins are people who does great things. Hufflepuff will not be the best house for you my child, you are more ambitious than they are, much, much more ambitious, you would be frustrated with them before long. Well... In that case, I am going to put you in... RAVENCLAW! And there we have Gisella in Ravenclaw, a loud cheer erupted down the table as the girl happily skipped down to join them, her grin wide. She watched the rest of the sorting ceremony proceed with a lighter heart. It was as her expectation that Wallace being placed into Slytherin, a hint of bitterness crossed her heart that she doesn't fathom. School days passed smoothly for her, she was almost happy rushing down these school corridors towards her various classes, more happy than she had in years. Gisella likes spending most of her free time hiding in the library, she studied hard to catch up. Like many Ravenclaw, she has a fondness for knowledge, almost a craving for them, and there she has the determination to learn everything. That desire wanting to know everything, anything, that is one desire existed in her that the hat told her about, for her ultimate goal to learn is to achieve. Another part of her, though she loves to learn, she was determined to figure things out by herself, stubborn like a rock she won't even ask a teacher for help, and only accept help from other student when they force it on her, that's perhaps the only part of her true to her Capricorn nature. Friends she met on the first day to school hasn't deserted her, indeed Leon hang out with her most of the time, even went to the length to help her study, he told her that it is for his own revision too. Though suspicious of his intention, Gisella let him be, she rather like his company which often promise a smile on her face, or on a good time he would even trigger a laughter out of her lips. On the other hand, Wallace too, hang out with her a lot, but mostly to taunt her, as if humiliating her became his life mission. It was of her good endurance that Gisella could hold back the impulses to hex him, time after time how she wanted to. Perhaps also the fear that he would report back to his beloved mommy and daddy that she didn't. She settled herself on giving him nicknames, and occasional under the encouragement - and help - from Leon she pulled pranks on the boy. Third year, something good happened, or well Gisella was rather confused at first, of Leon unpredicted display of jealousy whenever he saw Wallace walked too close to her. She soon figured out the truth, at one of their fight, when she told him that her life isn't his to care that he told her his feelings, or rather it escaped his lips without his meaning to. In the mist of her shock he leaned forward to kiss her. Though she wasn't quite sure back then, she could tell that her heart was suddenly filled, love and happiness tear at her, along with confused and shock, how she never knows that she's been liking Leon all along? The couple quickly came together, they've shared their sweetest moments, moments that Gisella kept close helped her hold on during those difficult summer days. Funny how easier times made tough ones looks tougher. She live by a dream to get out of this house and never return as soon as she reach seventeen, just so she doesn't have to see the Sinclairs anymore, and then she doesn't have to hesitate at hexing Wallace when he gives her a hard time. The truth is, he doesn't disturb her as much now she's with Leon, perhaps he doesn't dare to cross an older student; she's always knows him as a coward. That summer before fifth year started, came to their door a surprise visitor: Courtney Henderson was released a few years back. For the past few years he was to stay in St. Mungo's to deal with the mental torture he was put through with the dementors. He proclaimed that he's a good man now, and wanted Gisella back to live with him. Never has she seen this man before in her life but when she's too young to remember, Gisella didn't want to go, but the Sinclairs were happy to get rid of her. Well, all but one. Wallace stood out to stop Courtney from taking Gisella away, a movement that shocked Susan speechless, why is her son protecting this abomination? Yet at last, the adults won of course, underage is just equal to powerless in this world, Gisella was taken from the Sinclairs, moving back to live with a father she never know. The last thought through her mind as she followed Courtney out of Sinclairs' Manor, was it sadness that she saw in Wallace's dark brown eyes? She wasn't sure. If you're expecting this as the rescue she was hoping for, it is not. Courtney, after losing his beloved wife subsequently spent five years locked in Azkaban, the dementors has long driven him... Erm, perhaps crazy would be the only fitting word. Who would be if they were stuck with their worst - most depressing - thoughts for the five years? That's why he spent such a long time at St.Mungo's. But nothing the healers do could fully cure him, his illness is completely based mental. First two weeks it hasn't show, and then came the drinking and the mood swing. A few times, when it turn so bad he even assaulted Gisella physically, the beating, the pinching, injuries that the girl tried to hide under long sleeves and pants. She dare not to even write a word in her letters to Leon, afraid of him playing a hero and jumping to rescue her - which she knows he will, not because of anything but the fact that he loves her - and afraid for him getting hurt because of her. Those are her darkest days, but nothing could compare to what he - her father - almost did that one night. She would never forget that night, that warm summer night. Gisella was cooking dinner. There her father wandered into the kitchen, and he was struck for the moment how alike Gisella and her mother looked like. The similar height, the same brown hair, he wasn't in the right state of mind to tell the distinct differences anymore, walked up to her and the old man wrapped his arms around her waist, calling out her mother's name, calling out that he misses her. Scared out of her mind, especially when she isn't at all trusting with physical contact ever the encounter with her uncle, Gisella reacted just like any girl could; she reached out for the nearest thing she could find and hit her father the hardest she could. A knife, a stab through his chest that had Courtney Henderson lying on the pool of his own blood. The girl was stunted, however long it took for her to regain consciousness she doesn't know, could be seconds or hours later, as her shock faded that she did the only thing occurred to her that moment, she crawled over to her fireplace and cried for help; she called for Wallace. Why Wallace and not Leon you might ask? Perhaps those long years of living under the same roof, growing up with him has planted in her subconscious mind some level of trust towards the boy who has never been nice to her. And she doesn't want Leon to know about this, she doesn't want her boyfriend to know that she had hurt - most possibly killed - her father, worrying about what he would think of her, even though it isn't entirely her fault, even though it was an accident. Wallace came rushing over, tagging along an elf's apparation he came into the kitchen. He confirmed that Courtney was dead, it took him a brief while to come up with a plan to conceal the crime; the alternative would mean a lifetime in Azkaban for Gisella, he doesn't want that, however much he dislike her. It was until he gotten Gisella working with him, making sure that she has got over her guilt - or well, put it aside somewhere - and in a stable state of mind to go along with his plan that Wallace proceeded. Setting the place on fire, burning everything down, it doesn't take much encouragement in a old wooden place like this one. He ushered Gisella to run out as planned before apparating home. No one would suspect him being involved, as long as he clean up and get rid of the remaining evidence. The elf was sworn to silence, she is always been loyal to Wallace, and she likes Gisella for the girl has always been good to her. She won't tell; no one would know. And two days later there came a bad surprise for the Sinclairs, when a ministry officer came knocking on their door announcing the passing of Courtney Henderson, brought along Gisella back to this home she has been wanting to escape from all along. No it isn't a place she could just leave, this is the only home she has now, the only home she ever had. Not to mention that she's feeling grateful for Wallace, for he helped her when he can leave her to deal with her mistake alone, and anyway, where else could she go which is better than the Sinclairs'? They are arrogant and cruel, true, stupid even, but they had given Gisella a place to live all along, and all other survival basics, even though they've made her work for it. It is better than anything else anyone in this world could offer. She means... Look at her father. Her aunt and uncle dislike this girl more, if that's possible. Yet again, they couldn't do anything to her, well perhaps given her more tasks to fill her waking hours during the summer. The secret of her father's death haunted her every day and night, as if she would and could ever get over the horror of that day as easily. During the day, thoughts were easier to block under the scrutiny of her aunt and heaps and heaps of house chores she was assigned to; she isn't as lucky when she falls asleep. The guilt was eating her up within, she couldn't stop seeing her father's death face when she close her eyes. Nevertheless it was the toughest summer the girl has been through. When school start again, Gisella was noticed to be colder, like she had built herself a wall surrounding herself to keep everyone else out and away. Leon has his suspicions, under several occasions he even asked, but his questions were brushed away, though perhaps he asked all the wrong questions. Leon's bright presence was the only thing keeping her sane during that crucial period, when days are dark and secrets she kept buried deep inside was digging her empty, eating her up. There she wasn't sure how to tell Leon about it, Wallace's warning sounded loud in her head: You're putting him in danger if you tell him. You know Leon, truthful to fault, do you really want him to keep the secret? Even if he can keep it, for you, do you want him to suffer with you? It sounds about right, she can tell, but not without consequences. She couldn't let him pay the price of the mistake she committed. Eventually, because of this giant secret standing in between this couple, they quickly found themselves grew further apart. Gisella wrapped up in her sorrow and self-pity; Leon grew frustrated for not knowing. A big fight broke out between them one cold snowy day, with Leon announcing that himself doesn't know who she is anymore, and he's tired of trying to know. He left her standing alone in the middle courtyard, no idea how to get him back. Gisella grown to hate January because of the unpleasant memories. Perhaps, whenever she remembered that night, this Ravenclaw would think, Perhaps it is better this way, that I won't feel so guilty lying to him this way. Her tears were warm, yet inside her heart dark and cold. She knew there is nothing she could do to fix things, and her pride doesn't allow herself to walk towards this only guy she wanted in her life to say that sorry. Better off this way, She lied so much that it even sounded convincing to herself. Leon graduated Hogwarts with flying colors, focused all his energies on study instead so he won't feel the empty pain inside his heart. Everyone around them knows how much he loves Gisella to even thought of spending the rest of his life with her, for someone like Leon, that's one promise he intended to keep. Thousands of time he picked up his quilt wanting to write to the girl he loves, yet he wasn't sure how. Especially with her keeping something from him, something big and terrible, he can see that much in her eyes. He put down the quilt instead, not sure if he can handle the big dark tragic. Summer 2022, before school started, Gisella was admitted into St. Mungo's for suicide attempt, if Elizabeth Sinclair hasn't decided to ask the girl to make her supper that evening, perhaps Gisella had cross over to the other side. The whole summer she stayed in the hospital, a mentalist was assigned to her case. He was the only other person she told that secret to, during her treatment, and necessary report were made; she escaped the Azkaban sentence for her action being self-defensive - and it was graded as juvenile cases - and of course, the mentalist has pleaded for mercy on her ill mental health. Her punishment was passed to the school's judgement, her Head of House later came to decide that she would spend three hours weekly to help out at the Hospital Wing. She knew the school would be different before she got back, how people are going to look at her differently. She killed her own father, she could almost imagine how the rumors would spin off, casting her as the crazy homicidal daughter. Out of courtesy, she kept Wallace out of the incident, it isn't the way she wanted to repay him for helping her out. The news spread, back at school when sixth year started, things are infinitely worse than she's ever imagined, students avoided her in the corridor as if she's contagious, only Wallace dare to come near and talk to her. He does have a shameless persistence it seems, but he kept her a constant company. She has a good news though, Leon too, had heard the news and written her an owl. He asked her to meet, even though he hasn't an idea what to say. Is there a magical word which could fix a broken relationship? Are they too late to savage? Is it his fault to abandon her at her darkest time? He should have talk to her, make her share what that was nagging deep in her mind. He knew something was wrong, he knew, why hasn't he be there for her? Perhaps regrets are just to torture oneself with possibilities that they've not pick at that time. They agreed to meet that following weekend, when all was planned, hopes are renewed. Gisella couldn't allow herself to hope too much, but yes, she hoped still, she wanted to apologize to Leon, for how much of a pig-head she had been. And whatever will become of them, she will left that for time to tell. Only hope is sometime, too much to ask. That night the dark force destroyed the University of Alistair, Leon was there. No chance of surviving, nowhere to run, he was one of the casualty. His body found among the piles of stones and concrete days later, crushed. People told her that it is at least a quick death, that the pain hasn't last long. To her, it was just too much to know. Weeks gone by, her behavior is currently monitored by a trusted school nurse, many (many, perhaps just consisted of a few friends who grown close to the girl, some professors and Wallace Sinclair) afraid that she would go suicidal again . All Gisella felt was numbness, it was like her world turned into the coldest winter night. No light, she doesn't know what else could she look forward to, or if there's anything worth her looking forward to ever again. Though perhaps life has just another arrangement for her, when she found herself replying an owl from a stranger and started befriending him. Caesar Montague, the kid of the rich and renowned Montague family. Arrogant, smartass, just one of the many purist jerks she ever encountered. She never thought her life - her poor, half-blood life - would ever get entangle with his. What's worst of all is that she never thought she will fall in love again after losing Leon. Is fate giving her another chance? Or it is simply playing another joke with Gisella Henderson? Let's us all just be friend, And together we can start a new trend.
