It is assumed that this ability was inherited from her paternal great-great-grandfather as he was a metamorphmagus himself. Of course it was a bit of a shock for Castor and Myeong when their infant daughter's soft black hair changed into wild shade of magenta. Through out Altair's childhood her hair often had a mind of its own, changing to wild colors as quickly as her moods. It took years of practice to gain control over the ability and to learn how to hold a look that was not her natural state for any extended amount of time. Like most Metamorphmagus Altair's emotions still can effect her control over it. When she is too upset and sad she cannot find it in herself to hold any other look that that which is her one true face and if she is too emotional be it anger or glee her hair will turn vibrant shades of colors that reflect the emotion she is feeling (such as a deep red or a bright yellow). Altair still has a lot to learn about controlling her looks, but every day she has found it a little easier to look how ever she wants. Tell me who you are, I'm sure you're some kind of superstar. Free Style LIKES: flying and quidditch, bring the center of attention, causing trouble, pulling pranks, letting go, freedom, bright colors, fluffy animals, her friends, the holyhead harpies DISLIKES: being wrong, liars, people who are fake or untrue to themselves, anything that holds her back, being shown up, deep dark water, feeling weak, being alone BIGGEST FEAR:drowning, when altair was five she got swept under the tide on a holiday to the beach, she's had an intense fear of drowning since. PERSONALITY: altair is the middle child and troublemaker of the poynter family. in her short life she's built up quite the reputation for herself. to get a good look at who she is you have to get deep inside her mind. learn what makes her tick and how she thinks. think edgy aggressive asian girl and you've got altair, she is rather rough around the edges. she's into a lot of things boys are into - a lot - and she often hangs out with a large group of boys. instead of the boys being a bad influence on her it's often the other way around, she gets them into trouble with her jokes, pranks, and attitude. she's the type of girl everyone assumes is a really big tomboy and while that is true she does appreciate the typical things most girls would enjoy. she may not be that good at picking certain things out but she still has a general feel for it. besides the whole tomboy deal, altair is a pretty loud and obnoxious person. her mentality towards everything is she'll do what she wants when she wants and she doesn't care what anyone has to say about it. she doesn't look well upon anyone who conforms with society too easily and she is far from scared about calling people out. often times her confrontational nature can get her into trouble. but there is even more under her tough exterior, deep down there is a stereotypical soft spot in her. once someone is close to her its hard for altair to let them go. she grows attached to others easily and craves their attention and affection. she'll take care of them and pretty much watch out for them. but just because she babies then it is for others. MOTHER: myeong poynter, nee rho (42), second generation korean immigrant, muggleborn FATHER: castor poynter (38), fourth generation korean immigrant - mixed race, half-blood SIBLINGS: caelum poynter (17), brother, ravencalw rigel poynter (12), brother, ravenclaw HISTORY: Altair was the second child born to Myeong and Castor Poynter. She was thought to be the light of her mother's eyes, the perfect daughter she had always wanted, but right from the start Altair was a defiance. It was clear in the fist hour after her birth that she was going to be different as her hair had changed from a soft black to a wild magenta - Myeong had not expected any of her children to bear the gift of the Metamorphmagus, let alone for her to be her second born and only daughter. Her mother tried hard to shape her into a proper little girl, she dressed her in frills and begged the child to not wear such brightly colored hair as she tried to tie it up in soft pastel ribbons. While her mother forced her to go to tea parties she watched as her other brother was taught how to ride a broom. Her fascination with flying started young after her father took Cealum and her to a quidditch game. She had never felt such a rush in her life as she did in the stands those days. She found herself lost in the sea of fans and she loved it. When she recanted the game to her mother and claimed that one day she would be a quidditch player she was scoffed at and told that little girls did not grow up to play such games. But Altair was not like all the other little girls, that was something she was sure of. Altair had always been tougher then many of the girls she had play dates with. She was constantly getting into fights with Cealum and Rigel over the most trivial of things, of course these fights were quickly soothed over as a certain level of peace had to be kept seeing as she was stuck with both brothers for many more years. She wasn't exactly at the screw the world phase but she did march to the beat of her own drum. Why not when she had the chance to experience so much as a child. Her parents often traveled, it came with their work. She was used to a changing scenery as they hopped from place to place. All the travel and time abroad had an affect of her mannerisms because she picked up a few things from the other countries. But no place was ever as sweet as home. As she grew Altair learned more about herself, despite how her mother tried she grew into her own person. Often times it felt as if she went against her mother just because she could, but she was determined to be her own person. When it came time for her to join Caelum at Hogwarts Altair was ecstatic, not because she would be joining her brother but because she would finally get the chance to be herself with out her mother looking over her shoulder every step of the way. She was quickly sorted into Gryffindor, her personality was the one thing that was bolder then her hair. It was easy making friends at first, but she also found it was just as easy to make enemies. Her mother had often warned her about speaking out and speaking too brashly but since when had Altair ever heeded one of her mother's warnings? Soon she had a reputation all her own, and even if it wasn't the best of ones Altair was proud to call it her's. The years went on but Altair hardly mellowed out. She stayed true to herself, or at least did her best. It didn't take long for her to realize that there were more differences between her and most girls than just her love of sports and brash behavior. When most her friends started to fancy boys Altair only found herself fancying them. At first she kept this too herself, unsure of what to make of it. But it started to eat her up on the inside, so often she called people out for being fake, for hiding who they really where but here she was doing just that. At thirteen and opened up about who she was starting with her parents. Her mother took it the hardest, the daughter she had always wanted would never be. While it was hard seeing the disappointment in her mother's eyes Altair did her best not to let it bother her too much. After all it was more important that she be who she was then to try and pretend to be something she wasn't. Let's us all just be friend, And together we can start a new trend.
