It was soon that the two were wed, and soon after that there came the first son of the family, Zachary Rosier was born, the first boy, with that blonde hair and blue eyes, he easily won the couple's hearts and they showered him with love and everything they have. Iain came second to the Rosier family, one year after his older brother, on 16th December 2007. It was a cold evening, winter had just crept up on everyone. The Christmas lights were up, Christmas carols playing on every radio stations and from the loud speakers of every stores big or small. Birgitte just reached home from the shopping mall with gifts for everyone in the family, her stomach was round and her smile was bright, even a dark wizard family love a nice, warm family gathering. Her water broke when she bent down putting all the gifts under the Christmas tree, a healer was summoned to their home. Three hours later there joined the world a little boy with light-brown hair and a set of hazel-brown eyes, looking more like their father. Iain Sebastian Rosier he was named, his cries loud enough to fill the house but was quiet down quickly in his mother's arms. The second child of the family grown up to be a quieter kid of two, often play by himself, he would laugh by himself. He had also skipped crawling altogether and started walking when he was 1 year and three months old, giving his worried parents a surprise. It was soon after that that Iain was blessed by a little sister. What Iain would never know would be all his parents' attention were on him before the youngest Rosier joined them, that he will never know that he is not always the invisible middle child, that he's not just another Rosier boy, he was once the apple of his parents eyes, and they still care and love him, with perhaps less attention paid on him as he grown up to be such a levelheaded and independent kid. Mistakes of a parent, that they think that an independent child needs less attention, they could not be more wrong. Growing up, Iain looked up to Zachary, what his brother does he would sure follow because in his eyes his brother is everything wonderful, he's stronger and faster and smarter, he once set Zachary as his role model - and secretly still does too, with perhaps some jealousy tinted his view because Zachary gets everything he doesn't, or well, he seems to get everything before Iain. Iain wanted a toy broomsticks too, he doesn't want to ride his brother's old one; he wants to get his own books too, and he wants to have his own drawing pad, and he wanted to have his own sweet and a box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, he does not want to share things with his siblings because he wanted something of his own. That seems to be the story of his life, that everything was given to him he was forced to share with his brother or his sister, or both. He is the middle kid, he has to be nice to his brother and be protective of his little sister. The thing is, Iain doesn't want to. He wanted to be selfish sometimes too. Iain grown up to be smart apart from being quiet, he seems to spend more time in his head thinking than actually executing those plans, part of it also because he's smart, he doesn't have to be caught red-handed at the crime scene when he can have someone else taking the fall for him if they were caught. He seems to have a pretty good talent at convincing people get their hands dirty for him too. When he was nine his brother gotten his acceptance letter from Hogwarts. Although he was expecting it, Iain was still not please, it seems like Zachary get to have everything before he does just because he's born two years earlier. Those story Zach told him about Hogwarts too doesn't please him, they made him jealous, because he won't get to see the Hogwarts castle until two years later, because he can't get his wand yet and he can't do his magic yet. But he knows how to do magic, he knows how to make things fly with his mind and know how to brew potions. He seems to have a good talents with potion brewing too, a skill that he took great care honoring because it seems to be the only thing his father approved of him, that he might occasionally get a praise or a treats too because he managed to do his potion correctly. Those two years that his brother was away at Hogwarts isn't too bad actually, Iain got more time and his parents' attention for himself - well, shared with his sister. Then time he not with his parents learning he spend reading, sometimes he spend time with his little sister too, but they seem to have their differences when it comes to their interests. It has a lot to do the differences of their gender it seems. The summer after his eleventh birthday is just the one Iain has been waiting for, that every morning since his brother came back home for summer he will look out the window of his house for any sign of owls, first thing; ran down into the kitchen and ask his house elf if there is any letter came for him, the second thing; when he has no letter his face would crumbled and he will take at least the next half an hour sitting one side worrying if the school had simply forgotten about him. Will that happen? Well, he hasn't actually show strong signs of magic, just some potion brewing skills and the occasional incidents moving things with his mind, never even break something when he's angry, Iain has never been really angry, jealous and felt mistreated yes. His aunt ever commented the boy having high EQ because of his good anger management. Whatever is it, Iain just wanted to be able to go to Hogwarts. Needless to say, that day when there appeared two owls in the sky heading towards the Rosier household, Iain was happy enough that he was practically bouncing in excitement as he waited for the owl to swoop into their living room. A smile so wide on his face, he opened his letter with trembling hand. There is the acceptance letter and a list of required textbooks and materials for the school year. Iain thought he has never get a better gift in his life, a true birthday gift, seeing that he hasn't any actual birthday gifts except for a treat with his favorite food because his birthday is so near to Christmas, no, Iain gets a bigger gift for his Christmas instead, a stack of books he might like, or mostly clothes. The older Rosier couple had always been practical. The family brought the two kids to Diagon Alley that one day to get their school needs. So there were new set of books and uniforms for Iain, and the cauldron and the telescope. And of course, Iain gotten his wand that day too, and it was a fine wand too, 13 inches long, made of Monterillo wood, it's core a Fire Lynx hair, it shot out golden fireworks above Iain's head when he gave it a wave. That was the day Iain felt that his world is finally falling into place. On September 1st the whole Rosier family came to send two brothers to the King Cross Station, Iain was told a lot of rules to follow before he boarded the train, rules which makes him rolled his eyes and making sarcastic comments inside his head, as if he would actually pick fights with other kids and mix with those muggleborns. His parents doesn't like those muggleborns and neither does he, none of the Rosier kids like them much because that's all they were taught since young. Iain is a little curious though, just like he's curious about everything. And Alan Rosier gave him a pat on his back before it is time to go, telling him to make the family proud. He didn't make the family proud he supposed, sorted into Ravenclaw instead of Slytherin like his whole family has been, his father, his mother and even his big brother, he is the outcast, an abomination. He doesn't feel like he belongs to the family now, it was a rather depressing first few days that Iain cried himself to sleep every night, he doubt that his father would forgive him for being in the house of eager rather than being in the house of snake. What should he do? He wondered, what should be do if he goes home that winter holiday and only face his parents rage and nonacceptance? Will they kick him out of home? Iain doesn't know, he was eleven and he worried, and he doesn't even dare to tell Zachary this because it makes him seems childish. Iain won't do childish, he's not a kid anymore. Iain is a rather strong kid, he picked himself up quickly, focusing on his study instead and of course learning magic quickly gained his attention and soon he found himself reading into the night rather than spending those hours crying. He hasn't a friend, keeping to himself mostly because he dislike the other arrogant pureblood kids and he dislike the other half-blood and muggleborn kids. He doesn't know who to make friends of, keeping a casual term with his dorm mates too. School works come easy for him, supposed he has already know, he must be put into Ravenclaw for a reason. Iain found himself being better at Potion and Herbology than any other, he does have a natural talent for Defense Against the Dark Arts too, although he isn't sure if that's a good thing, having always listening to his father telling stories of the old time, of how their grandfather was killed by good magic, Iain decided to hide it, keeping up just that average results with his DADA. At home, nothing bad as Iain worried had happened, his parents seems to be able to accept him being in a Ravenclaw. Iain is smart yeah? It is good to have a smart-head in the family. The only thing seems to have not go right for Iain is the distance he is slowly growing away from Zachary. Zachary has his own group of Slytherin pureblood friends to hang out with now instead of his boring brother who always carries a copy of books around. Zachary who believes in jumping into the situation, rather than properly looking through the information available before taking action. It was that one day after his third year midterms that he was called into Professor Bennett's office, where he was given advices and books to read. Has never have that much attention before, even at home, it was a little scary and at the same time Iain was craving for it. It felt good to be noticed, it felt better to be acknowledged, knowing that he's good with potion now that he fell in love with it even more because of all the attention he could get. He grew to really like Professor Bennett too because she would always be so nice to talk to, can even handle a joking flirt or two sometimes. Yeah, he think she's rather cool. It was his third year that Iain had his first tryout for the Quidditch team, he didn't get into it until he was in fifth year. Flying is something fun he loves to do, it felt like freedom when he can speed through the air, focusing on the game that he can forget all that's bothering him in his life, his almost non-existing attention from his parents, which he had always try so hard to gain but they had always their eyes just on Zach, or Cassie, the story of his life, always the second best. He is tired of being the second best. Fourth and Fifth Year passed by without much changes, with perhaps him gaining more attention - especially from the female population - after developed physically. Iain has grown to be rather good looking too. But he hasn't actually get on with any girls yet, flirting with many and went on a few dates, he doesn't know why he's holding back too. Perhaps he is still believing in that special someone, or perhaps he's just afraid of rejection. But maybe he will change that the next year, when school officially starts again, he wants to be something else, someone else, someone who can beat his brother in his game for once. Let's us all just be friend, And together we can start a new trend. |
