Bailey had been home for a while, and Riley had the day off today, which meant that they'd be able to spend the day together. Whenever Riley was off work he would go to stay with Bailey in the country, while Riley loved the area he liked to get away sometimes, and this way Bailey wouldn't have to risk being caught up by some fans anywhere they went with whatever they did. A lot of the time it was spent at home but no matter what they did they were together. Even now it seemed as though they were still trying to make up for the time that they lost during their years of separation.
Riley woke up in London to the sun beaming in through the shades. He'd gotten up and put on a pair of nice dark blue jeans and paired it with a white t-shirt and a blue flannel button up. He combed through his hair and made it look decent. He didn't worry much more about anything else. He was always happy to make his way to his brother's home. He slipped on a pair of black shoes and a dark grey cloak before leaving his flat.
He'd written Bailey the day before to let him know that he'd be over first thing in the morning, but knowing Riley on a day off it was closer to first thing in the afternoon. But he'd be staying there for a couple of days so it wasn't a worry if he had missed a few hours. That was who Riley was as a person though, it wasn't any secret. Even when making plans with his grandmother he would tell her in the morning but she would arrive nearly ten minutes after he would planning for him to run late. He was on time when he had to but if it wasn't necessary than timeliness went out the window.
The younger twin had left his home and went down into the alleyway near his flat and apparated near his brother's home. There was the pop and then his eyes greeted his brother's home. A smile came across the twenty-three year old's face. This was his home just as much as his own flat was. Being anywhere with Bailey though felt like home.
Riley walked up to the front door. He knew he was welcome to just walk in, Bailey wouldn't have cared, but Riley was always taught to knock on the door first. He was taught to be respectful. He did it at his Grandmother's home, he knocked on his mother's door, all places he was fully welcome to just come in and stay. Lessons most definitely stayed with Riley through his years. A lightly clenched fist reached up and knocked on the front door.

It was nice to be home. Bailey had a love for life on tour, a love of living in the stage lights, but there was something about being back home that brought a calm to the crazy life that Bailey lived. It had taken a number of years to understand just what it meant for a place to truly call a place home; so much in thanks to Riley and Poppy.
Now Riley had planned this day with Bailey and it happened to correspond with Poppy's own plans leaving the two brother's free to entertain themselves. Not that there was ever an issue when the three of them spent time together, still Bailey enjoyed any time he got with Riley, it still felt like there was so much they had to make up for. While Riley had said he would come around in the morning neither brother had actually expected this to occur. Not only was Riley constantly late to, well, most everything but Bailey was a night owl and it was rare to see the man awake before the noon hour.
Bailey's dark hair was clearly messy (and getting rather long these days), he hadn't made an effort to put on trousers instead he still dawned his charcoal colored lounge pants and some cut up band shirt, yes all the signs of being fresh out of bed were clear in Bailey's over all appearance. An effort had been made to be awake in time to hear his twin's arrival. There were few people who Bailey woke early for.
Breakfast was in the process of being cooked when the knock came. Bailey - rather lazily - had been using his magic to do the brunt of the work whilst he sleepily sat at the breakfast bar half asleep. Still when the knock came Bailey's eyes were open and he felt a buzz of energy, after all it was going to be Riley. It was funny how his brother was too polite to just enter the home, no matter how many times he was reminded that this was his home as well and it was never a locked door to him. It was just one of the quarks that Bailey couldn't help but appreciate about his twin. Now if only a few of this other friends could take a hint from Riley.
Bailey opened the door and greeted his brother with a wide smile. His arm soon was thrown around the other man's shoulder and he was brought in for a quick but loving hug before being ushered over the threshold and into the house, "Just in time, I think the bacon is almost ready!" It could be days, it could be weeks no matter how much time was spent apart Bailey still always had similar reactions to being reunited, it was just important that Riley always know that no matter what he is always missed.
"Poppy sends her regards and apologises for missing you and says she hopes you'll still be coming around for that thing you two do after I leave, not gonna lie she told me this when I was not exactly awake so I might have missed a few of the details, I'm sure you'll figure it out though. Anyways, like i said bacon is just about done, so if you're hungry well I'm making breakfast or you know where the fridge is" Bailey flashed his brother a smirk before he let hims free of his shoulder clasp, after all he had to go make sure he wasn't actually burning the bacon.

Riley was happy that their friend back in school had figured out they were most likely twins. While he'd lived a little over nine years without Bailey, there wasn't anyone in his life that he would claim he was closer to. To say the least as often as Riley could he spent his time with his brother. He couldn't really imagine a life without him anymore. And while they did live their own lives, they still tried to cross them as often as they absolutely could. Bailey was Riley's best friend, and he was one that Riley couldn't have asked for better.
When Bailey answered the door Riley's face turned up a rather large smile that near matched his brother's. Both brothers tended to always greet each other with smiles that could seem like they'd spent years apart. Bailey had thrown his arm around Riley's shoulder and he'd been brought in for a hug which he reached over his brother's shoulder and patted him on the back for the brief moment before being brisked into the house.
The elder of the twins had informed Riley that he'd arrived just in time for bacon. A smile came across Riley's face. ”That's good, I completely forgot to eat breakfast,” he said, ”I believe I just crawled out of my bed to make myself decent to leave the house and come here.” Riley's face turned from a smile to a grin as he looked over his brother who was still in lounge pants and an old band shirt. ”Looks like we each got one half of a proper getting ready for the day for adults,” he chuckled.
”Poppy sends her regards and apologizes for missing you and says she hopes you'll still be coming around for that thing you two do after I leave, not gonna lie she told me this when I was not exactly awake so I might have missed a few details, I'm sure you'll figure it out though. Anyways, like I said bacon is just about done, so if you're hungry well I'm making breakfast or you know where the food is.” Poppy was like a sister that Riley never had. He got on with her quite well, and they did spend time together when Bailey was whisked away for work. ”Ah the biannual plans of attempting to find her a new husband,” Riley grinned when his brother let him free of the grip that he'd had on his shoulder. Riley always tried to find away to joke around about things like that. ”Actually I will probably take her for a spa day, that way we can both recover from the loss of having you,” he told him with a laugh. It was true though. Riley had found a place that was near his own home that seemed to help him relax from any type of stress. Spa days weren't just for girls, were they? No. He'd often take Poppy there along with him so they could enjoy the day.
Bailey had moved to go check on the bacon and Riley made his way to his brother's cupboard for a glass to pour himself some water. ”Would you like a glass?” he asked. While Riley had never particularly lost his orneriness from his youth, he did know how to quickly move from his rambunctious personality to one that could be taken as calm and collective. He often thanked that slight ability to his success at his own job. He knew how to turn things when necessary. Riley was currently working on being able to administer potions with his job. Working on becoming a psychiatrist, that was the muggle word for it, that was still what St. Mungo's called it. It was someone who issued medication for mental health purposes. He hadn't told Bailey yet but once he actually finished his training in the area he was going to take off work for a while again so he could be able to join his brother for one more tour, at least for a full time, instead of having to come back home for work throughout one. It had been far too long since they'd spent that much time together and Riley had wanted it for a celebration for completing all his training at St. Mungo's. He wanted to surprise Bailey with it once he actually completed the training. Only Poppy knew of his plans at the moment, and he trusted her well enough to not let it slip.

"Of course you did." Bailey barely missed a beat after Riley mentioned that he forgot to eat, as if Bailey hadn't already assumed that it might have been a few days since his brother forgot to eat. Riley could be starving and still some how he could forget to eat; well at least that's how it seemed to Bailey. Still Bailey smiled and shook his head. There was a chuckle from Bailey as Riley pointed out how they each were only half successful at adult morning routines.
"Really, just twice a year? No wonder you've not succeeded yet, maybe you two shouldn't have wastes all that time on those petty affairs back when we were engaged, and right after the honeymoon - tsk tsk Riley, I thought our mother raised you better." Even with his tone dead serious it was obviously just more of their own personal joking, five years of horridly written prints about a rising musical star was bond to leave you with situations you had to learn to laugh at. "Honestly though, whats the wager this time that someone is going to write about how you two are back on with your affair....oh oh, and that once again Poppy is pregnant with you child!" There was an excitement as he imagined this fake headline and some blurry photo that would barely pass as Riley and Poppy. "I mean honestly who actually steals their own brother's wife?" Laugh to himself bailey continued with tending to the bacon, soon he would have to start the eggs now that Riley was there.
It was funny how there was always a chance that someone wanted to look at life at a more interesting and false angle just to boost their own name. Bailey always was thankful he had his brother who was luckily close enough with his wife to not actually mind spending time with her. Growing up with their american family Bailey understood disliking family but he didn't have to worry about that with Poppy and Riley, he was as much his brother as he was her's and Bailey knew he never had to worry about it being anything more than that. Besides Poppy wasn't even Riley's actual taste.
His stomach was tying itself up in hunger, he needed to get a move on. "Yes, please, there is - some sort of juice too that Poppy picked up...something about it being healthy and cleansing, all that good for you mambo jumbo - I wouldn't drink it. I mean I love her, and I will do a lot for her...but damn it man, I want my orange juice back not this...what ever it. I tell you, leave a woman with a fridge for six weeks and she thinks she can go around changing everything in it!" All because his wife bought grapefruit juice instead of orange juice.
The bacon had crisped up how Bailey liked it so he quickly did some wand work to get it out of the pan. Next was a new pan and the eggs. It took a moment to think on the right spell but Bailey soon had some scrambled eggs in the work. "You wanting crumpets or toast?" He said over his shoulder as he made his way to the bread box. While they had similar taste and often just ate the same food that didn't mean when given the time and chance they didn't like to have a littler variation, after all Bailey favored a nice crisp sourdough toast with his breakfast.
Bailey was quiet, even though Riley was there he was still in the presses of waking up and thinking about the things he wanted to talk with Riley about. While this visits were for their own fun Bailey had such little time at home really that he had to try and make sure he arranged with everyone when they would see each other. It was about time to start planning out the next few tours and Bailey needed to try and figure out when he could make times work for Riley. Sometimes he wished he could take his brother on the full six weeks of a typical tour like they had done a few times before, but they were getting older and his band was getting bigger, it wasn't as if it was easy living going portkey to portkey and town to town for six weeks either. But Riley was still alone in his life and Bailey felt a responsibility to try and fill that space that he felt could be there, after all they both had their on issues stemming from their past.
After he knew what Riley wanted Bailey buttered the breads and placed them on the warm griddle so they would toast. "We should owl mom and Grandma, give them a visit before I head out again, not that you don't see them all the time but I know Nan piratically likes when we come together." Though Bailey understood that, after all she'd never been keen on the two of them being separated in the first place. Real tour talk could wait till after breakfast, when he wasn't on the verge of being hangery.

Bailey was Riley's best friend, he wasn't just his brother. Riley also knew that Bailey was well aware of Riley's tendency to not eat. Most days Riley just didn't think about eating. He always ate on his lunch at work but if he was busy at home it would just forgo his thought process. Bailey was Riley's savior when it came to food. When they had traveled together before Riley had taken his position at St. Mungo's, he would find himself munching on whatever it was that Bailey had been eating. So it was no doubt that without missing a beat Bailey had already assumed that he'd not eaten. ”You know I eat more often than you think,” he told his brother.
”Really, just twice a year? No wonder you've not succeeded yet, maybe you two shouldn't have wasted all that time on those petty affairs back when we were engaged, and right after the honeymoon – tsk tsk Riley, I thought our mother raised you better.” Bailey had this thing about him when he was joking to still sound dead serious. Tabloids and their writings sometimes... Riley had it published about him that Poppy and he had been carrying on an affair. Sometimes that was the downside to the two being fraternal, there weren't many downsides but Riley often wished that he wasn't published in tabloids for hanging out with Poppy. She was essentially his sister after all. ”Honestly though, what's the wager this time that someone is going to write about how you two are back on with your affair... oh oh, and that once again Poppy is pregnant with your child!” Riley couldn't help but laugh. ”I'm still waiting on the first child, I think she's about two or three years overdue, may need to take her to the hospital,” he said with a chuckle.
”I mean honestly who actually steals their own brother's wife?” Riley just shook his head. The stories were often hilarious, they often found themselves laughing over the next crazy headline of any of them. Riley couldn't imagine anything ever with Poppy. They were siblings at worst and best friends at best. The two had gotten on fairly well from the beginning. He'd always enjoyed spending his time with her even when Bailey wasn't in town. He counted himself luckily that his brother married a girl that he could get along with.
When Riley asked Bailey if he wanted a glass of water his brother went on a spiral down of explaining that he was extremely unhappy that he didn't have orange juice. Riley couldn't help but begin to have a fit of laughter after the ranting was over. ”You know, your orange juice would have been bad by the time you arrived home, right?” he asked, ”maybe we should take you grocery shopping to get your orange juice.” he said as his laugh began to calm down. He reached to the faucet and poured each of them a glass of water before turning his attention back to his brother.
Bailey had begun to work on eggs before asking if he wanted crumpets or toast. Where Bailey preferred a sourdough toast, Riley most definitely preferred a crumpet with a spot of butter. ”Crumpet, please,” Riley said as he reached over the bacon and grabbed a slice and began to nibble on it.
The two brothers were no doubt still attempting to wake up. Both most definitely night owls. Bailey due to his job and Riley mostly due to him being incredibly lazy when he wasn't at work. Riley often found himself wishing he could always go with Bailey, but his line of work would not permit that. He had chosen the career that would not have allowed him to follow his brother around the world on magical tours. It was unfortunate but it was what it was. Riley couldn't wait for when he was planning his vacation. But that must wait. He was excited but it was a secret best kept under wraps.
”We should owl Mom and Grandma, give them a visit before I head out again, not that you don't see them all the time but I know Nan practically likes when we come together.” ”You're all she talks about when you're not around, I'm sure she does the same when I'm not around too, I think she is definitely happier when we are together. Mom's the same,” he said with a smile. ”But yes, once we're done eating we should figure that all out.” He finished off the slice of bacon that he'd taken and then propped himself up on a barstool in his brother's house.

"I really hope you do Riles, otherwise I'm going to come back after tour ones of these times and find you've wasted away." Well no, their mother, grandmother, his wife, and a number of their friends would never let Riley unintentionally starve himself. Still in a hypothetical sense Bailey had the thought cross his mind a few times. Never the less he flashed his twin a smirk, Riley knew he only said it because he cared for him and was trying to look out.
"I figured you guys just hid the kid under the floor boards when I come home. What a shit healer you are though, letting my wife be three years over-due, maybe you need a new job." Of course Bailey understood that Riley wasn't that sort of healer - didn't mean he wasn't about to make the joke though. "Don't worry, it'll be at least a few more years before the press actually has a child to debate paternity about." Bailey tried not to put too much thought into what it was going to be like the day Poppy actually was pregnant, it was still a ways in the future though. Bailey was not ready to cut back his time with the band and be the proper father he wanted to be. Not yet.
"Well, sure, but she still could have gotten some just before instead of making me suffer with her health juice....honestly I really ought to just hire someone to buy me groceries before I come home, stop leaving it to chance." Maybe Poppy had her reasons for not getting his orange juice, it wasn't like she wasn't good at making sure Bailey had the foods he enjoyed. But he really wanted Orange juice. "Though some how I feel like Poppy might be offended if I ask someone else to do our shopping...." Maybe Bailey could be a bit lazy when it came to homely tasks - or maybe entitled was another way to put it. "Its not a bad idea though, would mean one less thing she had to do.....she'd never go for it." It was likely a good thing that Bailey assumed his wife wouldn't care for this extra help - just because he was a rock star needed mean he needed to try and live like a muggle one that was waited on hand and foot.
"Nan sometimes asks when she is going to get some great-grandbabes, which gets awkward fast....I will never understand the pressure put on us to make children right after marriage." Bailey loved his grandmother, but he did not care too much for everyone who felt that his year or marriage meant it was now time to enter parenthood. "...and I get scolded if I make the joke that you and Poppy are doing the baby making for me..." Though Bailey should have always known sassing his mother and grandmother would never be a battle he could win. After all did he really think he got all his personality from his father's side? "When you finally settle down, if you don't plan on having kids right away maybe you should just elope and not tell the family throw a big wedding a few years later save yourself the awkward baby inquisition" It was a joke, mostly. Riley had a job that meant he would be there daily to support his future wife or baby mama - Bailey spend so much time away from home, truth be told Bailey often assumed that Riley was still more likely to be the first of them to have kids.
"In all seriousness though, after breakfast we can pen it and send it....try and remind me that we need to arrange a family dinner with nan and mom before I head out again too otherwise it'll Mom and Poppy I have to face....and maybe Nan too - I'd have no chance...." Yes a battle against the three women in his life, he stood no chance. "And once I'm dead they will come for you....or you have to take my place, either way - here's to remembering." Bailey toasted with a slice of bacon that he nabbed much like his younger twin had. Satisfied with how the eggs and toast had cooked up Bailey finished up and fixed up two plated of eggs and their respective breads. Setting Riley's in font of him, along with the plate of bacon where it would be between them Bailey joined Riley on the bar stools that sat at the breakfast nook.
"And here we are, the finest scrambled eggs with toasted bread and crisped bacon." In some ways it was like their days back in school, alternating tables for meals so they could get more time together. "I'm glad you made it over today Riles, missed you brother." Bailey had reached over and ruffled up Riley's hair as he spoke. So maybe he got sentimental sometimes and it wasn't always about giving Riley a bad time. Sometimes he just had to remind the other man how happy he was that he was a part of his life. Satisfied Bailey dug into his breakfast ready to start his day with his brother.

”As if anyone in our lives would allow me to just waste away, besides I eat when I have lunch at work, usually a rather large meal,” he told Bailey. It was honestly the only time that Riley felt hungry when he was moving around the entire day. It worked up quite the appetite. He’d also snack when at work if he was spending time with a patient.
”No kid under the floorboards, definitely a shit healer, I would think it would be a good thing I went into mental health rather than actual health,” he told him with a chuckle. ”Muggles can test for that sort of thing and since we’re twins it could turn inconclusive since we share pretty much all our genes together,” Riley informed his brother about the press debating paternity. Riley had read plenty of muggle medical books to figure things out for his own profession but out of sick curiosity he read more than he had needed and knew a decent amount of muggle medicine.
”Well, sure, but she still could have gotten some just before instead of making me suffer with her health juice… honestly I really ought to just hire someone to buy me groceries before I come home, stop leaving it up to chance.” Riley grinned when Bailey spoke more about the orange juice. ”Though some how I feel like Poppy might be offended if I ask someone else to do our shopping… It’s not a bad idea though, would mean one less thing she had to do… she’d never go for it.” Riley just shook his head. ”This is why I mostly drink tea, no room for error with tea,” he told him, ”have you even tried the grapefruit juice that is the juice?” he asked his brother. It was true what he said, Poppy wasn’t a kept wife, he didn’t believe she would ever be okay with him hiring someone to shop for them.
Then Bailey went on how their gran asked when she was going to get great grandchildren. He spoke about how it got fairly awkward when they were asked. Riley got the same questions and he wasn’t even in a relationship, speaking of awkward. Riley nearly spit his water when Bailey told him that he got scolded when he joked about Riley and Poppy’s false press of having children. But Riley unlike Bailey had plans to have children when he got married. That was one thing he was most excited for when it came to be a newlywed, but also unlike Bailey, Riley had a normal job that would allow him to spend plenty of time with his spouse and child. He wouldn’t necessarily have to face the baby inquisition from their mother or grandmother. ”Don’t think I will have to worry about it once I am married, as I already get it being unmarried and completely single,” he said with a grin.
Riley chuckled when Bailey mentioned that he’d have no chance if he had to face against Poppy, Mum and Gran. Riley toasted his bacon with Bailey. Those two were a wonderful match. ”Don’t worry I won’t let our full stomachs let us forget,” he told his brother. Bailey had made them a plate and Riley picked up his fork and began to munch on it. ”Miss you too, and you know I’d be here anytime I can,” he told Bailey.
Alright so Riley was having a hard time keeping his secret held in. It was supposed to be a surprise, one that was supposed be held in until he finished his training. It was difficult to hold things in when it came to Bailey. ”Speaking of missing each other, I’m due to finish my training before you set back out on tour, I’m taking some time off from work as well, but I would recommend some extra space on your tour for an extra body,” he said with a grin after he chewed up and swallowed some eggs off of his crumpet.

Bailey scoffed a little and shook his head. Whatever Riley said he only half believed - at least in terms of his care. What could you say, Bailey was the elder of the two twins - even if only by a number of minutes. Though Riley did have an impressive appetite. He didn't dwell, Riley would be fed here soon enough and he would stop his worrying for the day.
It felt good to be back in his house joking around with his twin brother. Of course even when they were joking Riley some how managed to find a way to throw in a fun fact. It was always interesting to hear what he learned about muggles - after all Bailey learned some things too as he was working to branch his music out into the muggle world as well. Only Riley learned things a little bit different.
"Really? I bet you healers could figure out how to do it all magical like - but than the purebloods would be in trouble." Having grown up in Slytherin house Bailey had seen enough of the 'purebloods' and their dramas. Of course it just seemed unlikely that any of them were 'pure', unless they were all inbred, but hey he didn't rule that out either. "I'm not getting my children tested by the way, you'll just have to endure the press when the day comes dear brother." Maybe by then the press wouldn't care, or maybe they would finally be over the whole Riley/Poppy 'affair'. Ah the day these jokes would be nothing more than a joke over strange memories.
Smirking rather wickedly Bailey heled in one last remark about hsi brother and his wife. Enough for one day, he could tease them both next time he found them after one of their spa trips - it was more fun when he got Poppy all riled up anyways.
"We should do that muggle test sometime...it can work that way right? For brothers - shows us just how alike we are? It sounds cool is all." No Bailey wasn't into all the science stuff, not in the way Riley was but that didn't mean there were not some things that seemed to hit with him.
"Its pink and sour - that is not a proper way to start your day Riles - its not!" Bailey seemed almost offended that Riley would even ask, "And you're British Riles, I was honestly shocked you didn't bathe in tea at one point." Bailey had grown fond of tea over the years, Riley had helped with that - but sweet juices that were more sugar than juice were the way to do breakfast, in the afternoon. "I mean, it's, it's not good Riles - pink health juice."
Okay so maybe he shouldn't keep making the joke - he was the one who found it the most funny. Bailey couldn't help it though, he was a bit twisted like that. "That's what I'm saying - it gets worse once you get married, so just remember either be prepared, or give them what they want. I promise, it can and does get worse." Maybe it wasn't right to bring up what Riley should do when he was married - a proper girlfriend would be a better start before marriage.
As they tucked into the breakfast that he had prepared Bailey had to smirk when Riley said he would make sure they didn't allow their full stomachs to distract them for the later task. For a bit they just ate and Bailey was content, he missed this when he was on the road. Riley was unlike anyone else in his life - not one of his friendships could compete with the relationship he had with his brother.
So even though Bailey had been enjoying his food his paused his eating when Riley started to go on about something. It took a moment for Bailey to understand what Riley was getting at but as the words clicked the grin of his face showed it. "Really?" You might think he was a young boy waking up on Christmas morning with the look on his face it had been some time since Riley was able to come along for a good amount of time. "You are saying what I think right, Riles? Not just a week, like you want to come along on a proper tour with us, right?" Okay so maybe he was talking loudly now too, Riley might have just made his brother's year.
