Free Style Tristan Grayson Olliston was born to an old line of witches and wizards that once settled in the United States derived from England. The family also had a long history of girls being born as Seers. And the girls were never to follow tradition and take their husbands surnames if they married, they were prized and the head of the Olliston family much unlike many of the older wizarding families across the world. Tristan was born first of three children, a younger brother Alexander and a younger sister Madeline. The eldest of the Olliston family was born first in the mid-winter of 1988 and Alexander came as the second four years later, their parents had been rather disappointed not to have had a girl between the two boys but still very so very proud of their boys, it was Madeline who finally came a little over a year after Alexander. Matthew and Sarah were happy to finally have their girl. Sarah herself had never been a Seer, in fact the last three generations leading up to Tristan's there had not been a Seer in the family. There were hopes for Madeline, hopes that the Seer ability had never left the family. Tristan was almost six when the girl entered the family and she was a rather loud baby. Their parents spent most of their time with the younger sister and Tristan found himself with a bit of a jealousy towards her and spent most of his time playing with his much younger brother when he could. The years before Madeline and Alexander were born Tristan had gotten plenty of attention from his parents. Both of them worked full time jobs in the American Ministry and Tristan was left with his mother's brother, Isaiah, when they were at work. And Tristan loved him, the wizard taught him so much about the wizarding world and he was always thought as a bit of an eccentric man. Maybe it was the means that he was raised under with a family like theirs. Sometimes they would try and pull the ability out of the children that they did have but it never worked. Tristan showed his first sign of magic just a few months before Alexander was born. He was playing with his uncle and he'd gotten upset because he couldn't get a certain toy and ended up setting the toy he was playing with on fire. That had amused him when Isaiah had freaked out as he put out the fire. The four year old had giggled and rolled as his uncle frantically reacted to the fire. Tristan was close to Alex when he was born, two peas in the pod. Maybe it was the age difference but Alex was the person that he attached himself to. He was always trying to hold his younger brother and even when Alex was just a newborn he would try and shove toys in his face to play with. Tristan would always remain close with his younger brother. And when Madeline was born the then five year old wanted to treat the girl the way way as Alex but his mother especially fawned over her. He felt left out and found himself playing more and more with Alex. He didn't like the baby girl, he was unhappy and even once told his parents to take her back as if she were a dog that they had purchased. The young boy had learned most of his teachings from his uncle the same way muggle students learn from their teachers. Growing up in Boston, Massachusetts near the school named after a horrific episode in history that his own family had lived through, Tristan had close contact with muggles and even a few muggle friends as he got older. But one day he knew he was going to make his way to go to Ilvermorny, friends like muggles were not ones to keep, he learned this the close he got to going to Ilvermorny. When he finally went off to Ilvermorny he really began to learn to accept his younger sister for who she was. Years prior their parents found out that she was indeed a Seer and the family had a large get together. The first Seer in so very many years in the Olliston family was a rather big deal to the family. But it was at school that he learned to appreciate her ability a bit more. When he arrived to Ilvermorny he met a girl that sat at the table with him that also had the ability. He learned that her family was not as accepting of such an ability, an ability that was feared by her family. Alyssa had become his best friend in school and she really helped change him. He was now a rather fun loving person and maybe even educated him more about things that were in his life and he never had knowledge of. Tristan became closer with his sister and invested more time throughout the years in learning the arts of Divination. He was even thinking about going into a profession with Divination but he knew he'd never make as good of himself in the world with such a profession as his sister or his best friend. Books were read and lessons were learned. He was rather skilled with the practice of Divination that he could do most everything except make prophecies. The day came when Tristan graduated from Ilvermorny and he was just over eighteen. He turned right back around and applied for an internship with the divination professor at Ilvermorny. He spent the next five years learning under the Divination professor there. Five years were spent trying to figure out exactly what he could do with skills that he leaned not ones that he were given. Learning in a profession that he would not be looked at the same for lacking an ability that was just given to his sister, the one that he had been so jealous of. Maybe it was the attention that come from it, but he felt like he was making his parents proud by moving into this field but honestly he never saw them much anymore. He lived so close but was so far away, it was mostly by choice though, he didn't like to be around his parents anymore. Sometimes they were just too much to be around. And he still saw Alex and Madeline when they were at school. By the time he was twenty-four and ready to leave and actually work on his own he decided to teach. He'd found that the five previous years had shown him that he had good skills with kids and teenagers. He had a personality that found himself liking children and finding himself liked by them. He was hyper and really a person who could explain something to children without sounding like a doctor trying to explain a medical diagnosis. So Tristan found himself looking for a job in the teaching industry, preferably in Divination but he would have been happy in Charms as well. He was twenty-five when he found a job at Hogwarts as the Divination professor and he was rather excited. He took over Sybill Trelawney. She was a different character in and of herself but Tristan only knew of her by rumor. He shared the skills that he had, the ones that he had learned to use well and found himself with a job. Tristan had proven himself that he was knowledgeable enough to teach a subject that he was very close to. He'd never been more excited. The first thing that he had done was write a letter to Alyssa telling her about it. Now he was living in the United Kingdom very far from his native Boston. He's still stayed very close to the girl that was once is best friend. He wrote her often but rarely did they spend time together. Friends through letters. They were thirty when he found out that she was married. Five years he lived in the United Kingdom and his best friend was off to marry. Tristan had never really enjoyed the relationships, some people thought he was a little odder than most. He had no people skills with those that were closer to his age. Alyssa's next letter had sent him into shock though. They'd been close for so long and she spent less time with her parents than he did with his. At least his parents somewhat accepted him. Alyssa had asked him to walk her down the aisle. And he had accepted. She looked absolutely perfect the day of her wedding and he happily let her go to her new husband. The summer of 2018 sent him into a blissful place that he got to spend close to his original home before coming back for the start of the school year. Six years, it'd been six years since the now thirty-six year old walked his best friend down the aisle. Six years that he'd spent mostly working away at his world. Six years since he last saw his best friend, and six years since he last saw any of his family. Tristan is happy to be away from his family, he is happy working as he wants and doing what he loves. Happy and healthy with a strong relationship with his students, Tristan couldn't have claimed to have a better life at the moment, albeit a little lonely of one but definitely not a bad one. Let's us all just be friend, And together we can start a new trend.
