also known as the great lake, located to the south of the castle. ceremonially, all first years are to sail on boats across the black lake towards the hogwarts castle, and at the end of every school year all graduating seventh years leave the school by sailing back across the lake.

an underground harbour at hogwarts where the boats are stored and where they dock when the first years arrive at hogwarts castle every 1st september. there are some rafters in the ceiling that are used to store the small wooden boats. seagulls can be seen around the area of the boathouse.

This courtyard is an enclosed open area located at hogwarts castle, at the base of the central tower. it can be found in the centre of the building that contains the viaduct entrance.

the clock tower courtyard is a cloister on the base of the clock tower at hogwarts castle. it is one of the older parts of the castle and the ceiling and walls are dilapidated. in the centre of the courtyard is an antique fountain surrounded by statues of eagles and a pear tree grows here. this courtyard also leads to the covered bridge.

begins at one end of the clock tower courtyard to a small stone gazebo with benches, outside of it is the sundial garden. it appears derelict, and was constructed of wood beams which extend to the floor of the ravine it laid across. the roof of the covered bridge was sagging and appeared tarred. the bridge blended in with the natural environment surrounding it.

an enclosed area on school ground, located near an entrance to the northern courtyard. it was used to hold dangerous plants and even while they don't contain dangerous plants anymore now, the place remained locked. it's key was hidden nearby in such a way that a small animal like a rat or cat could easily find it. one could find some leaping toadstools on the ground surrounding the enclosure.

a small fenced yard located near the ravenclaw's tower, hence it was also known as the ravenclaw's dueling arena, seeing there are most ravenclaw students using this arena to prove their skills than the others. this is where duels championships were held.

the path covered the path from hogwarts entrance gate up to the hogwarts castle. it leads up the hill from the gates through a clearing in the forbidden forest, continues past the gamekeeper's hut before ascending the next hill via steps. the footpath ends at the sundial garden, where one can cross the covered bridge and enter the castle via the clock tower.

also known as the black forest, it s a very old place that holds many secrets and houses many creatures, some dark and dangerous, others friendly. the trees in the forest are considered ancient, they are dense and rough looking from years of exposure to the elements.

it is strictly off limits to students — except in the case of detention, or care of magical creatures lessons that occasionally take place there. black flowers are known to grow in the forest.

a small wooden cabin located outside of hogwarts castle, on the edge of the forbidden forest. used to belong to hagrid, now the gamekeeper stays in it and look after the magical creatures roaming the ground.

the greenhouses are where herbology classes usually takes place. in here one may many exotic and magical plants including some that are extremely rare, difficult to cultivate and maintain, or even dangerous, such as the venomous tentacula and mandrakes. the herbology professor's office also located here.

also known as the transfiguration courtyard, it has grass in the open area, in which a big tree has grown over the centuries. There is one massive iron armillary sphere that stands in the centre of the courtyard. both the transfiguration department and the entrance to the headmaster's office are located somewhere near.

a dirt footpath leading from the sundial garden to the foot of the west tower. this footpath ends in a stairway leading up into the owlery. this path also leads to the quidditch cave next to the owlery via which one can enters the quidditch pitch.

behind the gamekeeper's hut there is a pumpkin patch. enormous pumpkins are grown here for the school's hallowe'en feast every year on 31st october.

this is where quidditch matches were held throughout school year, as well as where respective house teams practices and holding try-outs. each year hogwarts will see a total of six inter-house matches here, where the house team compete with one another for the quidditch house cup.

also known as the stone circle. it is a circle of giant stones within the grounds of hogwarts just outside of the wooden bridge. the stones form a sundial.

this waterfall could be seen from the quidditch pitch, location slightly out of the way and requires a bit of hiking to get here.

this is the final resting place of albus dumbledore, who willingly gave his life fighting lord voldemort's death eaters in the course of both first and second wizarding war. located on the shores of the black lake.
