we can be heroes; It was a long trip. Raphael stared out the tinted car window as scenes of endless wilderness rolled by, nothing particularly remarkable, just vast open fields on both sides of the empty road that has continued for miles now. They've long left the civilization behind, far enough that makes Raphael worry about food. Where would he find any food in the middle of nowhere with no human around? Granted, seeing how his chauffeur is a living and breathing human, pulse beating strong under his skin, he was pretty sure that there won't be without a human around where he's going. Although there was still so much left unknown, and Raphael wasn't given ample time to ask them before he was sent to the port and led to board a ship that has floated on the sea for over a month. At least, that's what it felt like. Maybe it is longer as time had that unreal quality to it when he has stuck underdeck for a mistake on the arrangement of his travel. All he knows is that he was floating on the sea for a while before his feet finally hit the land again, and he sincerely thought he would never stop floating for the hours after. That was 3 days ago, after 2 wonderful days in a nice hotel suite (he wonders how much he owes Lord de Fae for the whole trip), he was greeted by a chauffeur later that evening and they started the journey south, they've been on the trip since and it seems like they are nowhere near their destination. The Asian vampire shifted a position to get himself more comfortable in the leather seat. Granted, what's bothering Raphael is probably not the long journey, although he was getting restless after all the waiting around. What's killing him though, is the unknown lying ahead. All Lord De Fae gave him before his departure was that typical "I know just the place to send you" plus a playful wink wrapping up the whole mystery. He can't even just assume that he's safe, although Raphael knows that Lord De Fae meant to help. You just can't assume anything with any vampires, you know? Just like how he assumed Robert has his best interest... Stop! It's really not worth going there again. The hypnosis he had to go through before he was allowed to even meet Lord de Fae was torturous enough without him living through those times again consciously. "We are almost there, sir," said Mr. Chauffeur, he didn't give a name and Raphael didn't ask. Raphael tried his best to commute his gratitude to the man via the brief eye contact over the review mirror. At least he's not getting stuck in the car for a few more hours. That being said, it wasn't as if they arrive the next minute or two. It took them another few ten minutes before the scenery outside changes and something resemblance a medical castle made an appearance. Eventually, the car rolled up to a giant building that he could only describe as... a giant ass building. Raphael has never seen anything like that before, well he had, but that was the royal palace. Where is this? The royal palace of the West? Did he arrive in England or something? He didn't even realize that he was gapping until his chauffeur coughed to get his attention. Blinking a few times to regain himself, Raphael got out of the car. His single tiny luggage sitting pitifully on the ground, insignificant next to the giant place towering in front of them. And then his eyes met hers, a gaze that made him feel that he has been thoroughly read and judged at the same time. Raphael shifted a cough before giving his best shot at giving her a civilized smile (it came out more like a grimace). "H-hi, I am Raphael-" Should I say hello instead? Or hello in another language? Does she understand me? "It is a... hug-nice... castle you're having."---------------------------------------------------------------------- "Speech"thoughts"NPC speech"----------------------------------------------------------------------

"I do expect to get him back in one piece darling, so please try and be gentle. Just... please don't send me another matchbox."
In terms of her father's request, it was one of the more reasonable he'd asked of her. No assassinating very powerful, well guarded people. No leaving her home for long periods of time to act as his right hand. No spying on creepy, leering coven leaders with only a promise that she'd be able to tear them into tiny pieces eventually.
No, it was just... a guest. Not a pet. Not an ally. Not a political prisoner. A... guest.
Which was fine, she was already sharing her home with one welcome guest, what was one more? Except if George ever got on her nerves, she was allowed to electrute him into a twitching mess and then feed him to the sharks. He expected this 'Raphael' back in one piece.
So Kylara fidgeted with a little seashell charm on her bracelet. Ordinarily, she would build a nearly lethal charm into it before greeting someone, just in case. But well, it wasn't like she couldn't take care of herself without it, and that would just be setting a bad precedent.
Kylara looked out the window as the sound of a engine approached. She kept a small garage well stocked with interesting cars from throughout the eras, despite not having any particular interest in them. Mostly, she just liked the history, and the look on a chauffer's face when she gave them leave to drive any one of them.
The 1960s Bentley was this chauffer's favorite, and Kylara approved of the choice, it was a pretty care, and an older one. It still had hints of the carriages that had preceded cars.
Kylara rose from her arm chair and proceeded at a leisurely pace down the stairs, the chiffon layer of her skirts trailing down the stairs behind her, in the appropriate fashion. Her nails, shorter than you'd expect and unpainted, trailed over the stone rail and rasped faintly. There were already faint grooves in the stone from a centuries long habit, and the rail had been shortened from the grooves being repeatedly polished out.
She reached the bottom of the stairs and heard the click of a door car door shutting. Kylara drew in a breath and put on her best benign and all powerful hostess smile, and waited for the chauffer to open the doors for them.
The doors opened and her guest was revealed to her piercing gaze. He looked dazed and was gaping at the towering castle, and her smile grew just a touch before he finally looked down far enough to see her.
She continued to smile as he made an expression between a grimace and smile and stuttered endearingly over an informal greeting. Okay, maybe she could refrain from breaking this one.
Kylara glided down the curved stairs and across a few feet of stone path, her low heeled boots clicking. She stopped just before him, her smile still in place, and in a graceful and practiced motion, offered her hand, palm down.
"Welcome Raphael, to my home. Thank you for your gracious words, Château de Fae has been in my family for a very long time, and it is very dear to me. I am Lady Kylara de Fae, and it is wonderful to have you here. Please, there is much to see and I'm sure you are tired from your journey, I will show you to your rooms."
Kylara smiled more warmly, and waved a hand to the door, waiting patiently for him to follow.

we can be heroes; Calm down, Raphael. Just… calm down, pulling in a deep breath, he blew it out of his mouth to stop himself from jumping back into the car demanding to be driven away - or worse, running off into the woods they passed by on the way here. She’s just another person, not a person, per se, a vampire. And judging from her style, her composed movements, her commanding presence, she’s at least a few centuries older than he is. Technically speaking, most vampires are at least a few centuries older than he is, he is the young one. Problems remained that he isn’t really sure that he could trust another older vampire, Lord De Fae was probably an exception because he has an aura around him, also because Raphael was in a desperate state when he went to him. That being said, he won’t put it past Lord De Fae to sell him off if that option benefits him somehow. Perhaps he should celebrate that he is still a young, somewhat invaluable vampire that didn’t make Lord De Fae come to that decision yet. She stopped before him, Raphael could smell the scent of freshly cut grass and soap on her. Despite the dress being at least a few centuries? Millennials? Out of style, he has to admit that it suits her. And her smile didn’t look menacing. "Thank you for having me, Lady Kylara De Fae. I appreciate the generosity," It was more formal than he's used to, although he kind of used to the vibe from the moment he stepped into Lord De Fae's mansion. Following her cue, he picked up the hand she offered and press his lips on it lightly, mimicking the scene from a romance movie which he probably watched one too many times, enough times that would be teased if he ever admits it. It was when he was letting go of her hand that it clicked for him, "Hold on a minute, Lady Kylara De Fae? And Lord De Fae is your…?"How could he miss the resemblance though? The gaze, the angles to their cheekbones and jawline… He just didn't expect to be meeting a vampire's daughter, on top of it, a vampire's vampire daughter? The math didn't add up. The questions that he has from that brief exchange alone, if it's not too rude to ask them right this moment. But Raphael learned to bite his tongue, it's just something you learn to do after all the troubles running your mouth got you into. "Do you stay here alone?" He settled on a simpler, less dangerous question as he picked up his luggage, following the lady up the stairs to the... Château, she called it. Raphael was still very much baffled by the sheer size of this building, especially having as a space one calls home. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "Speech"thoughts"NPC speech"----------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright, so he was adorable. Fine then, she'd be nice. Kylara smiled more warmly than her cool and polite hostess smile and deliberately dropped her shoulders a centimeter as he let go of her hand.
"My father. I'm sure you haven't met many vampire families, I know my father and I are an unusual situation. He was turned when I was only six, and I always knew that becoming a vampire would be an option when I was older. I asked him to turn me when I was twenty one, and we built our empire together."
She could hear his footsteps behind her, and so Kylara didn't bother to check that he was following as she climbed the stairs and smiled warmly at her chauffer holding the doors open. "Thank you Maxwell, you may take your break now. I will let you know if we need anything else," she said softly as she passed and could hear the door shut behind him.
"Maxwell has been with me for years now, he is a wonderful driver isn't he? A very quiet man, but very helpful." Kylara said conversationally, slowing her pace to walk beside Raphael. She tilted her head at the question, and smiled. "Usually it is just me and my staff, but I have recently accepted something of a roommate. I'm sure you will meet them in a due time."
"There are very few rules about living here. Don't harm my staff, don't kill any of the thralls and do not upset my horses. I have a live in chef and meals are served rather erratically, so if you would like something just ask her, she enjoys complicated requests. The thralls work in cycles, and their participation is entirely voluntary, just keep that in mind, this is supposed to be enjoyable for them."
Kylara stopped at the top of the spiral staircase and glanced at Raphael. "I'm sure you will enjoy your time here, there is a beach to the west end of the estate, and Maxwell will always be on hand if you'd like to go to the city. Of course, you are welcome to drive yourself," Kylara shuddered lightly.
She still disliked the idea of a moving transport with no mind of its own. Horses were sane, they didn't run off cliffs because you got distracted.
Kylara smiled and gestured at doors or entry ways in turn as she spoke, "there is the music room, the library, a second sitting room, George's room, and here you are." Kylara pulled the key from her pocket and unlocked the old door with a clunk, handing the key to Raphael.
It was massive, of course, with dark stained floors covered in ornate rugs, a sitting area and a king's sized canopy bed. "Bathroom is through there, dressing room attached. Would you like some time to settle in?"

we can be heroes; She smiled again. The genuineness within that smile helped Raphael feel more welcomed than he first came to this foreign land. And after the past two years of running around, being welcomed somewhere feels nice that even though this feeling is dangerous, he couldn't help himself leaning into it. He has to agree what's between her and Lord De Fae is a unique situation, Raphael has never heard of any vampire family, and neither would he expect one to exist, after all, which father would doom their kids to this life? "I see. I've never heard of any vampire families before, it's a little shocking," He admits. Of course, he would keep his opinion to himself, after all, it's not his place to judge what the De Faes do, or did. Regardless, everything has happened in the past and Lady De Fae seems to be enjoying her life. Raphael nodded at Maxwell as thanks as they walked through the door into a giant foyer, the place is breathtaking, for lack of a better word. It was all Raphael could do to keep his pace following Kylara into the deeper parts of the castle. There's a commanding presence here, it's like the wooden railings, the stone walls are all old enough to speak. He wondered how much history this place has witnessed, and what kind of histories it has been through. Her question broke his silent pondering and fascination of the place Raphael just moved in, luckily for the vampire's brain and its high processing power, he caught her question, "He is, it was a quiet ride," which was a good and bad thing, seeing how his anxieties had almost tortured him to death in the silence. But Raphael wasn't sure if chattering helped in that case either. "So, is it just you and Maxwell living in here?" Granted, there's seems way too much room in this château for two, he was sure this place could hold 10 of his previous coven and still has plenty of room to spare, and the Battant wasn't a small coven, there was a total of 12 members when he was in it. He was expecting to hear that there is more than one staff living here, Maxwell couldn't be a one-man-show upkeeping this place and it wasn't exactly near civilization that the staff can commute to work daily. What he wasn't expecting though, was the mention of a roommate. He doesn't necessarily think it is a bad thing, but he hopes that he hasn't got into the middle of something between Lady De Fae and this roommate she mentioned. The rules are fairly simple, although he wasn't sure why there's a chef and why would he requesting any meals from her. Is the chef here because the roommate is a human? And why does she makes it sounds like he's here to have fun? Does she know that he's basically here as a refuge? Granted, he didn't have much of a plan after this, his only plan is to not get killed by his old coven members and the hunters who seem to have found him. First thing first though, "I am sorry, but what are thralls?" he asked after they came to the second floor's landing. Maybe he sounds like a noob, but it is better to be clear than guessing his way through her rules. He really isn't ready to upset Lord De Fae's daughter. The rest of the tour was simple enough, Raphael was counting the doors as they passed it, making a mental note so he won't forget them. When she pushed open the door to his room, revealing a giant, beautifully furnished space within, Raphael couldn't help but gap at it again. Like, this is his room? That's three times the size of his family house back in Korea. He was about to open his mouth to answer Lady De Fae when there came another voice from his back saying "Lady Kylara, isn't it a little rude to introduce George's room but not George?" A tall, skinny vampire wandered into the room with a sparkle of playfulness in his eyes. There was a scent of heat and sweat from him like someone just spent a long time in the gym, the scent brought back some nostalgia to this Korean. "Welcome to Chateau De Fae, I am George, and you must be Mr. One Piece. It's nice to meet you!" Said the new vampire as he held out his hand to Raphael as a formal gesture. "Hi, I am Raphael," He wasn't sure why is One Piece being brought into reference, does he looks like the character from that famous manga? He frowned and looked over at Lady De Fae in confusion, and then back to George, "It's nice to meet you. Did you just had a workout?" He asked George, wondering if there's a gym in this castle that Lady De Fae hasn't mentioned, because that would be nice. "Yup! If you'd like to join me for kickboxing, I'd welcome a company any time. We can even do more than kickboxing if you like," Said George with a pointed look at Raphael and then a wink, not like the dark-haired vampire gets what he meant, "Of course, Lady Kylara is welcome to join us too, I mean, more the merrier right?" And he really didn't mean just kickboxing. George turned and gave Kylara a wink too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "Speech"thoughts"George's Speech""NPC speech"---------------------------------------------------------------------- WORDS: 899 OUTFIT: RAPHAEL; GEORGE + a white towel around his neck, beige khaki TAGGED: Lady Kylara De Fae OCC: Let me know if I need to change something love

"I've always found it fascinating, how few vampires' have kept their original families. I have asked many of them why, but I rarely get a straight answer."
Kylara was startled enough to pause in her stride when he asked about thralls, but she resumed her pace quickly. It wouldn't do to show surprise at a question.
"Oh dear, are they falling out of fashion again? I can never keep up with what the wider vampiric world is doing. A thrall, my dear, is a human that is kept either contracted with, or enslaved by a vampire, for the purpose of feeding upon them. Some are also servants, but I have always left mine to live a life a luxury. Mine live in the outbuildings during their rotation, and they are under a very generous contract. I find that happy humans always taste the best."
The Château tour reached it's end, and just in time, George appeared. Kylara did not sigh at the scent of sweat, in fact her expression didn't change at all. She was well aware of the fact that - regularly returning to the house smelling of horse sweat, leather oil, grass, manure and sweat - she had absolutely no leg to stand on.
"Of course George, I merely wished not to interrupt you, I thought I might make introductions during dinner, but since you are here," she waved gentilly, while George made their introductions. She also did not react in any visible way, to George's nickname for her guest.
Kylara wasn't sure what her father had told Raphael, but she doubted he had mentioned her history of guests and matchboxes. Raphael was far too comfortable around her for that, not that he seemed comfortable at all.
She did wince minutely when George winked at him, and then invited her to join. "Your invitation is as gracious as ever, George, but I must decline. I have to call my father and inform him that Raphael has arrived safely, then the evening will be ours. Excuse me Raphael, I will leave you in George's care, please make yourself at home and I will return shortly."
Kylara curtsied shallowly, an age old habit that she would never break, and descended down the stairs. She went only as far as the first sitting room, sitting gracefully on the chaise lounge and plucking the antique brass phone from it's cradle. She listened for any conversation upstairs while she dialed, and while she waited for her father's secretary to redirect her call, but as soon as she heard his voice, she tuned out anything happening upstairs.
"Kya, my angel. Is everything well?"
"Of course, Raphael has arrived safely, albeit somewhat shaken. Did you really tell him nothing of where he was going? That was not particularly kind of you." Kylara was grinning openly and toothily, there was no one to see her now.
"If I was solely interested in being kind, I wouldn't have sent him to you. I know how bored you get, and I'm not sure how much entertainment this 'George' has been providing you, sending Raphael, bewildered and helpless, is simply an expression of a father's love for his daughter. Have fun, Kya, just as long as he is-"
"In one piece, I know father. Thank you, I'm sure things are about to become very interesting indeed. I will call you soon, I love you.
