Words: 545 | Tag: BAILEY IVO MCCONNELL Notes: I feel bad for Bailey, it's early for him and he has a near panic attack Riley on Firewhiskey. Mere months ago, Riley and Bailey were sitting in Bailey's kitchen eating breakfast together, with Bailey griping at Riley for never eating properly. Today Riley was in the midst of packing to on tour with his brother. He'd never been on a proper tour with Bailey, in fact all that Riley had ever experienced were a few of his brother's concerts. This was about to be the start of something huge.
Riley had completed his training at St. Mungo's and was now officially a psychiatrist. He was successful in his work to essentially do a muggle job within the wizarding community. It was upon this event that he had promised to take time off and join his brother on his tour. It would be the first time that he has taken proper time off of work since his travels directly after graduating from Hogwarts. The look on Bailey's face when Riley had first told him that he was going to be joining him on tour, well it was easily a kid in Honeyduke's with a thousand galleons in their pocket. The twins had spent such little time in their lives together that this trip was worth it's weight in the experiences that they would enjoy together.
Here in Riley's bedroom, in his apartment in London, the skies gloomy, were two suitcases laid neatly on his bed. Half the closet was strewn across the floor, some of it were in crumpled clumps. It was clear by looking at the room that he had no idea what he was doing. Riley had spent his entire adult life in this apartment with the clothes neatly on their hangers organized in his closet. And now he was supposed to put them in suitcases, have clothes that he had to plan for the months ahead.
He was expecting Bailey to come over and help and that was likely the one thing keeping him out of complete meltdown at the moment. He looked at the clock and knew Bailey would be there any moment. He walked out of his bedroom and into the kitchen for a moment. He grabbed a bottle of Firewhiskey from the shelf and poured a glass hoping it would help relax him a little bit. This was a coping mechanism he would not suggest to any of his patients. He took a few sips of the Firewhiskey before walking around the counter to just begin pacing in front of the door.
And there it was right on time, the slow knock on his door that indicated his other, some may say better half was on the other side. Riley turned and opened the door. ”Thank Merlin! You are here,” he said with exasperation. He began to move away from the door and shook his head before stating, ”I tried to start without you,” the feeling of wanting those words back was immediate. He remembered telling Bailey that he was not going to start without him. Did that count as a promise? The thought that he'd now possibly broken a promise began to churn within his head and create more bad vibes within him. He fiddled with the glass of Firewhiskey and took a drink again. And he took a deep breath, maybe that was actually a sigh.

Tour was fast approaching and Bailey had a list of things he needed to do before he left for the next number of weeks. Sleep was something the young man was struggling with and he found himself up late into the nights. This wouldn't be a terrible thing, except for when he agreed to meet his brother in the afternoon. Bailey wanted nothing more than to remain curled up in bed for three more hours but Riley was more important to him so sleepily he readied himself and made his was to his brother's apartment. Thankfully he made it on time, he'd worried he might be late and almost kicked himself for no letting his brother know he was delayed but he had made it in time.
He offered a small happy smile to his younger twin, but found he was quickly following him into a mess. It took from his statement to seeing the state of the bedroom for things to click for Bailey. Packing, he had agreed to help him prepare for tour which would mean..packing. At first he couldn't respond, not shock just the lack of sleep. "Riles...you know that your entire room is not going to fit in those bags - okay with a little magic it could but you don't need that much......at least...I don't think you will..." He scratched his head a little and tried to clear the hazy cloud of his mind.
"I've honest Riles, between my assistant and Poppy I really don't even pack my own bags anymore..." Okay that might not put his brother at ease "But hey, I'm here, you're here, hopefully you got some coffee - and yeah man, we'll get this all sorted out, figure out what is essential to you for these coming weeks. It'll be great, I promise and really you just got to remember, there shops every where we're going - so if you forget anything I'm sure we'll find it." So, maybe not the best thing either. But Bailey was doing the best his half slept mind could do.
"You've got to tell me, just how quickly did you get your room to this state because...I'm impressed I don't think I've ever seen your wardrobe so...displayed..." His brother could be so tidy and neat yet here it looked like a storm had raged - well...a soft storm of clothing. "You'll need a tooth brush, don't want to forget that. Okay, he'd have to limit that teasing, this was important - and exciting, Riley and him were finally going to get some long awaited brother time. "Its going to be amazing, I promise Riles. And...don't forget, it really means a lot to me, that you're doing this...I don't think you know how much I've wanted this...I mean you got a pretty good idea but really Riley, I can't wait to head out on tour with you beside me." He reached out to put his arm around his brother's shoulder. "Now, coffee, and we'll take a wack at a packing...if all else fails we'll call my assistant in."

Riley looked at his brother and shook his head. ”I promise I am not taking my entire room, even with magic,” he told him with a slight smile. Riley knew with magic he could probably fit everything he could have possibly ever wanted to take with him. He looked at the mess on his floor and tugged on his hair as his brother informed him that he didn't even pack his own bags any more. A side look was produced by Riley before Bailey continued to say that he would still help out and then reassured him that if they forgot anything they would be able to buy whatever he needed.
Riley took a deep breath, why did he get like this sometimes? It wasn't as if he never traveled before. For Merlin's sake his brother had grown up in the United States and once they had met he had been before. But all his traveling was before he actually had items. Maybe Riley was more connected to his home than he believed. Maybe he has become a person who doesn't like to leave the routine. It was a true thought actually. Riley hated leaving his routine behind. That was most likely the root cause of the stress he was having. After having his life blown apart when he met his own twin brother he had always liked having plans and the exacts. ”Okay, but all my clothes are like professional clothing, I am just going to look completely out of place, I mean at this rate I may as well bring my St. Mungo's robes with me,” he managed to get a nervous laugh out. His healer robes were the only items that managed to stay within his closet.
Riley looked at the mess again as his brother asked how quickly he got it into this state. Riley thought back, he'd already had breakfast, he even had a mid morning snack before he started. ”I think about a half an hour or so,” he told Bailey. The tornado that was Riley's stress had come through and ripped most of the clothes from his closet. He had to agree considering the normal state of his apartment the mess was impressive. All you really had to do was walk from his bedroom to his family room to see the stark difference. The family room was completely spotless.
Bailey had requested coffee and then they could work on packing. If it didn't work Bailey was going to call his assistant in to help. Riley turned and walked back to the kitchen to make Bailey a pot of coffee. Riley didn't have a coffee machine he just had a french press and a kettle so it would take a moment before they had coffee ready. He got everything prepped and began to heat the water in the kettle on his stove.
”Bailey, despite the state of my home at the moment, I am very excited for this trip,” he informed him. He leaned against the counter. ”And I really do appreciate your help even if you don't do it for yourself,” he grinned. Riley just felt out of place at the moment but he was actually ecstatic to join his brother on tour.

Bailey took a look around at his brother's clothing. His statement wasn't wrong. How had he overlooked how formal - professional - his brother dressed. "Okay, okay, you're not wrong - but surely you have something..casual, you won't have to wear your St. Mungo's robes - unless you really want to." He was a little cheeky at the end but it was a little silly to see his brother so worried about clothing. Of all the problems in the world to have at least it was a simple one.
Okay now was the time to be impressed. "Half an hour....wow. Its going to be that sort of day huh?" Bailey really had to chuckle. Today was going to be needed, clearly. Not just to get his brother packed. Heading out of his brother's room Bailey followed him to await his cup of coffee.
There was something about french press coffee that Bailey enjoyed, though some could say that he liked any and all coffee which might be true. Still french press made by your brother was something that one had to enjoy just a little bit more. "Thanks Riles, always taking such good care of me." It would take a while for the coffee to actually be ready so Bailey made himself comfortable in the area around his brother.
He thought more on what Riley had said about the clothing and not fitting in. What could he do to help? Buy his brother all no clothing? Lend him some of his? Both? Its not like his style was close to Riley's but this was exactly the point. "You know if you want you can always borrow some of my clothes for this trip, we're basically the same size, well...you wouldn't want anything of mine that's tight anyways so that's - well we don't need to get into that, but some of my lazy stuff, things I wear around the house, little more casual but far less professional than my dear baby brother." Okay so he was a little tongue in cheek at the end there, he was excited an loved his brother so he couldn't help but tease a little.
"Anything for you, its what big brother's are for" Yes he didn't pack for himself anymore, but maybe he should. Was he really sop busy he didn't have time to do it himself? At least his personal clothes? It got Bailey thinking a little - still though it was nice having someone else do a lot of the work for him. "So besides tearing up your closet and preparing for this trip, how have you been since we last talked?"[b/] It hadn't been terribly long - no they didn't do well with that after their history but it had been long enough that Bailey felt it was nice enough to ask, plus he wanted to know - Riley was a very interesting person after all.
