Just wanna feel your kiss against my lips And now all this time is passing by But I still can't seem to tell you why It hurts me every time I see you Realize how much I need you With student's final exams approaching Irinka had found herself very busy helping the students prepare. All these extra tutoring sessions along with trying to tutor Rain - the stress was starting to get to her. This was the first time (and the longest time) she had been left on a task, alone, completely. Sure she owled Lesya and Dmitry, sometimes she even owled Zoya but owls were not the same as having them beside her to guide her. It was part of growing up, she understood this but did that mean she had to be happy about it? It had been strange not having any of them there to celebrate her birthday, missions took priority though.
Still it was time she got a well deserved long weekend. Now maybe it had been intention, or maybe it was just coincidental that she happened to know Dmitry was scheduled to be back 'home' that very same long weekend. Obviously it was total coincidence. Unlike her elder sister and Zoya, Dmitry had been away for his everyday job. Honestly there was an ease that Irinka felt about him not being out doing the family business with out her. It was one thing knowing that Zoya was always there having her sister's back, but if she herself was not with Dmitry than who was? They were partners of sorts...weren't they? Mentor and student or something like that? If anything they were best friends, sort of, maybe not as good of friends as he and Lesya - not that it bothered her to think like that. Whatever they where she wished she was there with him every time it was one of those missions.
As she finished the last of the papers that needed grading she hurried off to gather her things before using the Professors floo. She was in a rush to beat him, there was always something amusing about being in his home before him it was just a shame that he rarely seemed caught off guard by this. No doubt most everyone assumed she was going to the Xanthopoulos estate but that had never been her intention, no his home was where she felt at ease, where she felt like she could actually relax.
She landed about as smoothly as one tends to land when they hastily throw themselves into the floo. It was a good thing she had very accurate reflexes because as lovely as his floors were she was not keen to meet them with her face. Brushing off the soot and ash Irinka froze as she heard something. She swore under her breath as she turned around and grinned sheepishly as her eyes met his.
"Surprise!" There was a light laugh in her word, yup she'd been caught. "I guess you figured it out, I thought maybe this time I had you, I barely even asked any questions to get the information I needed out of you, you know. My point is though, welcome home - sort of, home adjacent?" She moved to wrap her arms around him like she had done countless times in her life. Yes, this wasn't exactly home - but it was home for now, wasn't it? It felt good to feel him in her grasp, to smell that scent he had - something about it always lingered even when he was oceans away. It was pathetic how she couldn't kick whatever it was that caused these stupid pathetic things to interfere with her life.
She slipped away and gave him some space before quickly finding her words again, "So I took an extended weekend because those students are driving me insane and I swear I am this close to turning them all into stone because they would make better art than well anything else really and art and utterly useless...anyways the point is I don't feel like going to the Xanthopoulos Manor so I'm going to stay here, with you." A grin came with these words, oh was she pleased. It wasn't as if he would say no, or could say no, since technically it was still sort of his job to keep an eye on her. She was just making it easy on him, right?

As a curse breaker, Dmitry found himself traveling often for work. A lot of time traveling for work could have meant one of two things. Saying he was a curse breaker and only a curse breaker was the safe bet. Dmitry did find himself often where he would have to travel and complete his own family missions without Lesya or Zoya, it was unfortunate since they were a tream, but he was able to handle himself. It wasn't to their fault at all, often it was because there would be a mission that Dmitry would side complete while he was away for work. Dmitry had been in China for a few weeks working on a project for his job. This was a relaxing task for him. While curse breaking wasn't necessarily the safest job out there, it was safer than the family tasks that were assigned to him. This time he didn't have any side jobs to do while he was there. He always enjoyed it when he could travel for only his every day job. Those felt more like a vacation than anything else. This weekend he was due home. He hadn't been due to leave again for at least another week, which would mean that he'd need to get with Lesya and Zoya and work on some training, because if he were asked the truth, he may have spent a decent amount of his time in China trying to eat himself into an early grave. At least when he wasn't working. He most definitely didn't spend any of his time keeping himself at the ready, this was something that he didn't tell anyone, besides what could he tell the people he worked with if he trained while away on jobs? Dmitry had gotten home and only a moment in the door did he hear the wooshing sound that the Floo Network made when someone entered the home by Floo. His green eyes caught sight of Irinka entering his home via the Floo Network. Their eyes met once she stood up. They wrote often, so she did know that he would have been home today from his travels. ”Surprise!” she said with a small laugh. She told him that he must have figured out that she was going to try to beat him home. She then welcomed him into his home and a light smile played across his face. ”You were lucky I just walked in the house myself, you might have been greeted with a lovely hex,” he told when she wrapped her arms around him. He returned the gesture. This house wasn't quite home, this country wasn't home to any of them. Dmitry was happy here though, maybe it was that he felt a responsibility to protect those that he did have, or that he was trusted to do so. Dmitry liked that he had a bit of control over what he did, even if he did have to travel for missions or for his job. She took the opportunity to move away as she told him that she took a long weekend because of the students. They had been driving her insane and that she was close to turning them to stone. Then she continued on to tell him that she didn't want to go to the manor so she had come to stay with him. He raised his brow at that comment. ”I just got home and you already want to stay with me?” he asked her with a small grin. He then lowered his brow and shook his head. ”Let me make up the spare bed for you,” he told her. He turned away from her and began making his way down the hallway. ”How is tutoring Rain at school been? How has school been other than wanting to turn young children into stone?” he asked her as he made his way to the spare room. He pulled out his wand and began pulling out a bed set to set up the empty bed. He didn't like having it made due to dust collecting so he would always pull it out when someone stayed over, wash it and then fold it back to only place it on the bed the next time someone was there. TAG: IRINKA AKSINYA XANTHOPOULOS WORDS: 711 NOTES: OMG I am so excited!

Just wanna feel your kiss against my lips And now all this time is passing by But I still can't seem to tell you why It hurts me every time I see you Realize how much I need you It was comfortable being back in his arms, being back in his house. There was just a sense of security that she felt in his presence. Not that she would say this out right. "Ha, you say that like you're not actually happy that about not being alone - you know you've missed me" The was jest in her voice, even if Dmitry didn't return her feelings that didn't mean he hadn't missed her. You were allowed you miss your friends. "You just get here and you are already thinking about putting me to bed - you know I don't have a bed time anymore right Dmitry?" Rinny was grinning ear to ear as she followed him down the hallway. Of course there was a little voice in the back of her head that wanted to suggest he just let her sleep with him - but Rinny was far from that bold, besides she feared his rejection.
"Rain is...lovely, a smart girl...it just...." Rinny paused as she tried to think of the best way to describe her interactions with the girl. "She is very busy this school year, I find I end up tutoring more than training...these Hogwarts students though - wild children.....maybe its something to do with all the muggleborns..." It wasn't that purebloods were better - after all her family was filled with more squibs than any other pureblood family so there wasn't much room to judge on blood purity but Rinny still felt there was a difference between the sort of magical folk to come from magic and to come from muggle. "So, did you bring me back anything? You know its not fair that I am stuck here, alone, while the three of you get to keep having adventures."
She was mostly joking about him having brought her a gift of sorts. Though, her birthday wasn't that long ago - still it wasn't as if he had a real reason to think of bringing her back still trinkets from his travels across the globe - she was just little Irinka, the youngest (in their family) Xanthopoulos. "And I wouldn't actually turn them to stone but there are a few whom would be rather satisfying to turn into stone - they'd be of more use that way." How had she been a good choice for this mission again? What part of her personality actually had seemed well suited for a teacher? What was done, had been done though and this is where they were.
"....You do want me to stay, right? Since I went though all the trouble that is, I could go to the other house if you really are put off by my staying though." She didn't want to leave but, she had to offer - out of respect. It wasn't as if she was actually causing him all that much trouble, unless you counted having to make the bed (again though, she did have a solution that could have prevented this inconvenience) but that was of his own doing.

”Ha, you say that like you're not actually that happy about not being alone – you know you've missed me.” Dmitry grinned with the jest in her voice. ”Alright, alright you got me, it is true, I have missed you,” he told her. She'd always been poised as essentially his younger sister. But like her elder sister, they'd been best friends for years. He had missed her, he missed all of them when they were gone.
”You just get here and you are already thinking about putting me to bed – you know I don't have a bedtime anymore, right Dmitry?” Dmitry turned to her as the bed made itself. A smirk came across his face. ”No, I thought you were just a kid again, but of course you're an adult now, let me just unmake the bed so you don't have some place cozy to turn into when you are tired,” he said before flicking his wand and letting the bed unmake itself and tucked the sheets back into the closet. He turned and walked back out of the room with a mischievous grin across his face.
He walked back down the hallway as she spoke about Rain. ”It could be that there are muggleborns at Hogwarts, it could also have something to do with them just being British as well,” he told only slightly serious. ”But I wonder if being raised without magic causes them to have influences of being a bit more wild, maybe they are more creative from the lack of magic in their lives,” he wondered out loud.
”So, did you bring me back anything? You know it's not fair that I am stuck here, alone, while the three of you get to keep having adventures.” Dmitry's eyes locked with hers. ”I just get here and you're already fishing for gifts?” he asked her with a smirk and raised eyebrows, ”you know adventures aren't as fun as you make them sound, I'd be happy to be a boring old professor's aide.” Being out in the world, sure the travel and the experiences were fun. But... with that said risking one's life out in the world was not exactly fun. Sure, Dmitry'd been trained to enjoy his work and so had they all, but the adventures for his actual career were fun, the ones for family business was dangerous, it wasn't really an adventure when the goal was to hurt someone and their family. It was what he did but those were missions and ones that he didn't really speak much about.
Dmitry picked up his suitcase and carried it back down the hallway to his own room to begin to unpack. He liked to unpack when he was home, even though traveling was a part of his job, he liked to think he had a home when he came back. She went on to say that she wouldn't turn her students to stone but instead that some would be more use to turn to stone. ”I'm sure my professors sometimes wished they could turn me to stone,” he told her.
”...You do want me to stay, right? Since I went through all the trouble that is, I could go to the other house if you really are put off by my staying though.” Dmitiry narrowed his eyes, ”Of course I want you to stay, this place gets lonely, I am more than happy that you are here,” he told her, ”always enjoy having company especially when I just get home.” He would never turn down any of them staying with him. They were all family after all.
He reached into his suitcase and pulled out a small box. ”It's not much, you may not like it, but I found it in a market and since you're teaching in Britain you should probably enjoy some British things,” he told her. It was a Chinese Tea Mix. Dmitry didn't actively shop for gifts but when he found things that would bring a smile to someone's face than he would purchase it.

Just wanna feel your kiss against my lips And now all this time is passing by But I still can't seem to tell you why It hurts me every time I see you Realize how much I need you Irinka felt the smile curl on her lips as he admitted to have missing her. No, it wasn't as much as she wanted him to miss her - but he had, in his own way. A part of her wondered how long her feelings for him would last or would ignoring them have to become a part of her everyday life till the end? She could curse herself for even entertaining the thoughts - it wasn't going to help the matter at hand.
Instead she just rolled her eyes at Dmitry, it was good to see that they could still play around so easily with one another...even if it meant she was now going to have to make her own bed. Once again she almost wished she was bold enough to make a remark about just taking his bed - but there were lines she knew she really shouldn't press."Such a charming man you are Dmitry..." It was clear she wasn't at all mad though, she could take it after all - they'd been like this with one another for many years, at least in the mischievous way.
Dmitry's thoughts on Hogwarts (and what she had mentioned about the school) were interesting. Rinny listened to the way his thoughts spilled from his lips - of course he wasn't all serious (wasn't that one of the reasons why she had always gotten on with him though, it was a trait they shared). Rinny couldn't help but shake her head and laugh lightly at his remark on the children's British nature. "You could be on to something Dmitry - they never experienced truly harsh winters that builds stoic natures." It was somewhat fascinating to watch the way Dmitry mulled over his thoughts, even if it was simply something as trivial as muggleborns creativity.
She couldn't help but blush a little at her childish nature as he asked about her being so keen for a gift. She didn't offer up an excuse though just a smirk and a shrug, it wasn't the first time and it would likely not be the last as well. Still he went on about how adventures were not everything - it was hard not to know what he meant. The whole...Xanthopoulos part of it, well it was dangerous - but did she have to be a teacher? Her, out of everyone in the family?
"Well, how about you write my mother and ask her to let me be the curse breaker while you teach the kids in the school - you are far more fitted for my job anyways, you handled me so well all those years." Of course as Rinny beamed at him she was clearly joking - about him writing her mother. It was somewhat true though, that she would rather be out in the world - or at least with him. Or even her sister. She just got out of school and now she was right back in it - where was her fun?
In some ways Rinny felt like a puppy following him around the place. Her eyes fixed on him as he set to unpacking while they chatted, "It's because you couldn't keep your smart mouth shut I bet." She remarked when he said he thought some of his teachers might have wanted to turn him into stone as well. Rinny still wondered why it might not be an acceptable solution, just for a while - to teach a lesson.
There was an ease that came with Dmitry's words. Not that she should have needed reassurance, but even she had her insecurities. Still a small smile was held on her face, a smile that quickly did turn to one of surprise. He had actually brought her something. She was quick to open the box once it was in her hands and she sampled the aroma of the tea. It was strong, stronger than the British teas and more like the ones found back home.
"It smells amazing, I bet it will also help make teaching those children a little less unbearable in the mornings." Though she would likely still be drinking plenty of coffee. "Thank you, Dmitry." Her thanks was soft, but it had meant a lot to know while he had been away - he had thought of her.
