Free Style the second wizarding ended with the victory of the light. muggles were ultimately free from the lurking danger, the existence of which they were hardly aware of. and muggleborn wizards finally found what they called justice. the era of darkness finally came to an end, so did the name dolohov. antonin dolohov was captured. how pathetic and sarcastic. one second you were on top of the world then you found yourself shinking to the bottom. returning to azkaban meant returning to the earth's hell, where days blend into nights and light turns into dark. you live as a dead man with living heart. you cannot not smell or taste. all you could feel is the emptiness of your soul. or...is there a soul left for you? his sould was being drained day by day, as was his consciousness. antonin's eyes stared vaguely at the space before him. it looked as though he was thinking of something, remembering something, missing someone. but everything was purely a blank - a dark, bottomless lake. in unconsciousness, he came across a few faces, heard a few screaming voices, tasted some blood. none of those things were familiar to him, albeit he was pretty sure that those people knew him, as there was extreme hatred on in their watery eyes. he could not tell whether it was a dream or reality, but he was afraid. there was no safety in azkaban. where could he hide? perhaps everything was a dream, perhaps things would get better tomorrow. perhaps there was no tomorrow. oh how he wanted to sleep, to run away from reality, to find peace. the old man closed his eyes very slowly. and he never woke up again. no tears, no grief, no comfort. nobody cared - nobody except a young man and his mother. little did the world know about antonin's little family. that was utterly understandable - who could have thought a cruel and heartless man as him knew love. but antonin dolohov, before being turned into a dead man, had fallen in love with a woman. they had a son, who was sixteen years old on his return to azkaban, named ethan dolohov. antonin's dead body was sent back home for necessary ceremonies a dead man should be granted. but the family simply buried him. no prayer was spoken. there were only a lonely tomb and the living heart of a son in which the name of the dead man was carved. perhaps it was not only his name that would stay forever on that heart, but also his hatred. darkness would return. antonin's wife died of a broken heart only a year later, leaving her son alone in the wide world. nonetheless, it did not seem to affect the young man ethan dolohov as much as the folk had thought. the sun still shined and the earth still moved around the sun. his life did not change a bit. he was never late for work or needed days off. and everyone believed that he decided to move on, which was said to be a wise thing. a couple months after his mother's funeral, ethan met a graceful young woman whose name was christine daaé. she was smart, funny and above all, she was a pureblood. it was unknown whether ethan loved her or not. but they got married two years later in a small church with no guests. and the summer of 2006 saw the birth of their children, the twins - aisling eugenie dolohov and alistair ethan dolohov. the twins grew up in the loving arms of their mother and the strictness of their father. unlike most parents, ethan did not teach their children to play quidditch. instead, he taught them to use weapons and practice basic attacking spells at every early age, despite his wife's disapproval. while aisling showed particular interest in them, alistair tended to avoid them. it was art and beauty that he found himself insterested in. once in a blue moon, he asked his father for permission to take art classes, but it always ended with a 'no', which caused the young boy's great disappointment. however, christine, after a long while of hesitation, decided to go against her husband's will by letting her son follow his dreams, because questions started to arise inside her head - questions about whether or not she knew the man she called her husband. with the passage of time, the sweet ethan dolohov she had known became a total stranger to her - someone cold and cruel. there were times when she thought about setting herself free. but the love she had for him and her children had kept her feet from running away. she began to find a way to protect her children from their own father. but it was too late for aisling. she had gone too deep and there was no turning back for her. people say lotus cannot be stained even if it lives in the mud. aisling supposed she was not the lotus. ethan told his little daughter everything about his past – their family past. disling stayed closer to her father than she had ever been. simply because she thought that she began to understand what he had been through, and that her mother's insecurities around him was ridiculous and unfair. alistair made enormous efforts to make she see what he had seen in his father. but all efforts failed. ethan knew that he had to make a choice – his dream or his family. If he stayed anywhere near ethan dolohov, he knew that the door to the future he wanted would be closed forever. But at the same time, if he left, he would lose his sister forever. so he stayed. chrsitine felt as though her heart was crushed into pieces. one night, the home to the dolohov, which had hardly been cosy by any means, became even colder. people heard the voice of a man growling with anger and the sound of a woman's crying her heart out. that night, christine ran away. the nine-year-old aisling wanted to follow her, beg her to stay. but she did not, as alistair said that she deserved to be released. the older the child got, the more distant she became to her brother. They no longer made breakfast together or shared little secrets. They were too different, if not entirely opposite. alistair only wanted to go up against their father, though he managed to hold his rebellious nature back for her sake. But the distance never bothered aisling, as her heart and soul were put in her daily training, her father and xochilt ollivander – the sweet girl next door who was and has always remained her best of friend. aisling was very much unacquainted with gratitude, at least that was what her father expected her to be, but she was wholeheartedly grateful that she met xochilt. The pure heart of the redhead made aisling felt safe. Her understanding made aisling feel not so alone in this world, where her mother was willing to leave her behind for her own happiness and her brother refused to walk in the same path with her. in 2017, an owl brought some news to the twins. they were accepted in hogwarts and were to start their first year on the arrival of that september. to alistair it was utterly exciting and amazing, because he had finally found a way out of the house in which love did not exist but only hatred and deception did. he was finally given a chance to pursue his dream. aisling, on the other hand, was not half as excited as her twin brother was about the news, although she was curious about life at hogwarts. the little daughter just hesitated to leave her father, whom she loved dearly, even more than she loved her own self, albeit alistair kept telling her that she was being fooled by his false kindness. the world spoke about ethan dolohov the same way they talked about antonin dolohov. and aisling hated it, because it was unfair to judge her father for what his father had done. the thought of refusing to leave home for hogwarts lingered in her head for weeks. ethan let his daughter made her own decision. he said that she was old enough to know the right and wrong. "the world out there is bigger than you could ever imagine." xochilt ollivander said to her best friend with excitement as they lied next to each other on the rooftop, watching stars glittering above them. aisling knew that through the stories her mother had read to her. the world is surely big, but how far could she go? and because the world is too big, she could get lost anytime. who would be there to find her? being lost and being left alone were basically the same thing to the little brunette. then, very unexpectedly, xochilt held her hand, smiling at her. "i'll stand by you." and xochilt never fails to keep her promise. "RAVENCLAW!" aisling dolohov's eyes widened when the sorting hat called the name of her house. they began screaming, whistling, clapping their hands and waving at her. the kids from house ravenclaw. aisling nerviously turned to the slytherin, trying to find a familiar face. there she was, enjoying herself with her new friends and her siblings. the girl turned to the sorting hat, looking at him with a glint of anger in her watery eyes. but then she quietly made her way towards the kids in blue and silver. "GRYFFINDOR!" the hat shouted almost instantly when he was placed on alistair's head. he then happily rushed to his house with a pleasant smile on his face. he did not even look for her among the ravenclaw. the big world had welcomed aisling with bitterness. but aisling dolohov soon learned that life was not always full of depression. she started to have new friends and blend in quite easily. she miled and talked more. and most importantly, contrary to her thought, xochilt did not leave her. unless they were in classes, they were seen together almost all the time, which was the reason why they sometimes were taken for siblings. aisling liked every story the redhead told her, about her schoolwork, her housemates or that one boy she liked. aisling never missed out on a chance to tease her best friend until her face was terribly reddened. life went by rather easily in her first three years at hogwarts. having been trained to work with spells and wand, she showed prominent skills in transfiguration, charms and indeed impressed her professor with her profound knowledge of dark arts. but they did not ask her how or why she knew them. because antonin dolohov's blood was running in her veins, and nothing could change that, just like one could not erase the dark mark once he had it carved in his skin. aisling did not know what the calm before storm was, until the commencement of her fourth year at hogwarts. alistair became strangely reserved, which was very uncharacteristic of him. all liveliness in his eyes was dead. but he did not breathe a word about what had happened to anyone, even his twin sister. he was not seen with his friends anymore. in 2021, they found his body in the trophy room, hung by a rope around his neck. "committed suicide" - the stonecold words were added to his profile. once again, aisling felt the world stumbling down at her feet. the folk said that the boy's suicide had resulted from the bullying he had had to suffered. a group of faceless had continually flown at him with slandering and criticism, pushing him to his breaking point, all because his name was dolohov - the name of a traitor and a murderer. for the first time, it occurred to aisling dolohov that she had to take her revenge. she was, after all, the descedent of a mass murderer, a psycho. the world could not accept that, she could not change it. there was nothing to hold on. so she let go. that summer she went back home, shutting everyone outside her door. no one was welcome in the dolohov home, even xochilt ollivander. "are you sure you want this?" ethan dolohov looked at his daughter - the only child and family he had left - with curiosity in his eyes. "yes, father." words came out of her lips easily as though it was no tough decision at all. the man beamed with pleasure as he rose to his feet to give her an embrace. aisling could not help feeling suffocated by the cold she felt in his arms. but she did not try to step away. now she had no one left in the world to hold on to anymore. aisling soon found out that all the training she had done was to served certain purposes, which were only revealed to her when he knew where she stood. by his side, forever - fight for people like her and die for them. people are cruel. they crave understanding but they never understand. and those like her - with an invisible dark mark carved in their names on since the day they were born - should not dream about being accepted as one of them. selfish and cruel. but it will have to to end soon, once darkness has returned. "the dark lady, find her, and do whatever she wants you to, my child. she is our freedom." aisling dolohov at last found a reason to carry on living: to set herself free. that summer, ethan taught her non-verbal magic, help her get familiar with forbidden magic called "dark arts" - prepared her for a totally new life that she had never known of. after the trauma with alistair's death, aisling went back to her normal life, did normal everyday thing. if there should be any changes, it might be her coming home more often than she had in the past. but no one bothered to question, as they thought she was still not over the death of her twin brother. however, the girl showed no sign of depression, which made many wonder why. she remained in good terms with everyone that she knew, and kept the close bond between her and xochilt. no doubt at all that their friendship was strong, but somehow, aisling still felt insecure about telling her best friend about her intentions and the path she had chosen. she was afraid of losing xochilt and having to feel the same bitterness she had on the day the sorting hat had separated the two of them. it stood to reason that being in different houses could not break them apart. but what if her little secret would? so for fear of losing her best friend, aisling was determined to bring her little secret to her grave, alone. the storm began raging in the summer of her fifth year. rainbows only existed in her dreams at night. aisling still remembers so well the day before the 'accident' happened. that morning, she and xochilt went for a walk. xochilt talked about a boy with a very bright smile on her face, which even seemed to gleam in the sunshine. who could have thought that it was the last time aisling could see the sunbeam dancing on xochilt's burning red hair? the next day she could not find the redhead. the door of the ollivanders' cosy house was closed all day. sometimes, aisling noticed a sound of someone's crying. two weeks later, the brunette paid a surprise visit to the ollivander. xochilt's twin sister greeted her at the door and tried to look pleasant when inviting her in. without hesitation, aisling asked for xochilt. yvonne's face went white. just as the girl was about to say something, her mother interupted, telling their visitor that she could find the person she was looking for in her room. when aisling turned the doorknob, she felt the cold running down her spine, as though she was standing on a cliff, on the verge of falling down. but she entered the room anyway. it was dark inside and there was no sound of life, even the breathing. xochilt ollivander came towards her from the dark; emptiness filled her eyes and her face was pale like a dead man. aisling almost stepped back when her longest friend got closer because something about the redhead was so deadly. then, aisling found herself pulled in a hug. xochilt was sobbing on her shoulder, just like the way she had when her mother walked away and alistair died. she learned the story quickly. xochilt was not a human anymore. she was something beyond anything aisling could ever imagine she could be - a vampire. her pure soul was stained by the lust for blood and killing. but that was not what she chose. she did not choose to sell her sold to the devils like aisling had. that night they lied next to each other on the rooftop, watching the night skies and the stars glittering above them. and very calmly, aisling told her best friend her little secret. "i'll stand by you." the promise has never been broken. time flew so fast. aisling is grateful that xochilt is still her best of friend and that the redhead has never told her what to do. they have stood by each other through the ups and downs. it is not the same road that they are walking on. but the promise has never been broken. "i'll stand by you, forever." Let's us all just be friend, And together we can start a new trend.
