Free Style Brodi Childs never actually wanted to be a teacher, he never wanted to be anything that could have an influence on the way people thought. He cringed at the idea of being an auror...a soldier for the ministry. Brodi wanted to be a wallflower, someone who could fade into the background and not feel the guilt that his parents felt for being nothing more than charismatic. If someone were to ask him what made him change his mind, it would have to be his mother. He could recall her staring into the fire and rubbing the spot on her arm she never showed to anybody while telling him that prejudice would bring him nothing but trouble. His father took down almost every picture in the manor, burned all his school pictures and never spent more than a couple of hours sober. If you asked him what made him peel off the paint that made him blend into the walls at Hogwarts he would tell you it was his father. His father always told him that the reason why so many people turned their backs to the darks side was because they were already treated as if they were dark. His parents were proud Slytherins, but it was hard to have pride in a house that was associated with the dark lord. He was told stories of being locked in a room because they didn’t want to have their parents in battle. If you weren’t with them you were against them and in that point in time there was no neutral. His parents had friends that survived, people who shared the same mark as his mother, his father...people they convinced they were better than someone because of their circumstances of birth. Then they had friends who died for the same reason, some people called it survivors guilt, his father called it the curse of prejudiced...karma. He could never get over the irony of losing his best friend because of someone he once looked up to, he wanted to have power. His mother always preached that one who does not know their history would be doomed to repeat it because history does repeat itself. No matter how many people try and try to keep it from happening there is always that one fool who never learns. Even though Brodi wanted to be the person to show people how the past affects the future, how mistakes can make you a better person, he didn’t want that power. He didn’t want to be the one that influenced young minds, or better yet, write a book that influence adult minds also. Yet that’s what happened, from the time he was seventeen to the time that he was twenty-four he researched past wars, dark lords, dictators and he wrote about everything they did wrong. He broke down their psyche and their beliefs, he didn’t think about the people that could read them. He hoped that people would see how someone with so little could have such a huge impact on the world. He didn’t just stop at the magical world, he went to college in the muggle world and became a history major. He spent two years in the UK, two years in America one South America, one in Japan and then one in China. His only regret was only thinking Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese and Mandarin was the only languages cool enough to learn. He published his book and called it Learning From Your History. In the introduction he left this note to his readers, or anyone who actually picked up the book. While i’d like to tell you that his book is biased and more than a little pushed towards pureblood ideals, I can’t. This book doesn’t in detail description describe why the goblins shouldn’t be trusted because come on they keep your money and property safe, it does however describe every injustices we put them through. It doesn’t blame the Muggle-borns for pureblood practices dying out, but purebloods for not sharing their culture. This book doesn’t just focus on magical history either, because like it or not we are not as separated from the muggle world as we would like to think. If a hurricane swept through London right now and devastated everything, we would be affected, while we’d bounce back quicker the magical world would do little to help the other world willing because we’d adopted this I could careless attitude towards the world we visit so often. The Britain Magical world is so closed in itself, so small that I couldn’t just stop researching here in the UK, I had to branch out to America, China, Japan, South America because as living being we are apart of the earth and we should learn from the mistakes of others as well as our own.” While he was traveling, Hermione Granger had started to reform the magical world and his parents were one of the pureblood families that supported her. While they themselves would never approve of him marrying anyone less than half-blood they didn’t approve of all the unfair laws and pureblood privileges then again they were living with survivors guilt. His book was popular and he appeared in the Daily Prophet and other wizarding magazines, the reviews weren’t too harsh and the good ones rarely registered on his mind. He wanted to focus on the negatives, the hate. When he returned home for the first time in seven years his mother hugged him and his father patted him on the back. However his father had said that he hadn’t accomplished much. A best selling book would do little to change things even if a few minds were opened. He understood when his mother casually mentioned that there was an opening at Hogwarts for a History professor. He knew that his father had wanted to be an ancient runes professor but didn’t think he’d get the job because of his affiliations with the Death Eaters. That weekend he wrote a letter to the Neville Longbottom requesting and an interview after questions and a conversation he had gotten the job. He spent most of the summer writing up his lesson plans and preparing his belongings, since he would be living at the Castle for most of his life. However he also had to visit a friend, her name was @dany and while he was traveling he had passed through Britain again for a month or so and they had exchanged owl information. At first he was a bit annoyed with her, but he warmed up to her. He would be lying if he didn’t admit to being a bit grumpy and anti-social at times. However he saw himself as a very serious person and @dany was the type of distraction that would ruin his chances at making his parents proud. He wasn’t the type of person that wanted a life as simple as two people falling in love and having children. He figured she was too young to ever take something like a relationship serious, or at least for now. Though he never truly asked her age he figured she was a good two or three years younger than him. Now the school year has started and he’s hoping that he can get through the year without screwing some kids up. Let's us all just be friend, And together we can start a new trend. |
