But I'm holding on for dear life, won't look down won't open my eyes Keep my glass full until morning light, 'cause I'm just holding on for tonight Half a year, that was how long she had been legally considered an adult. Soon she would be taking her Apparition test, once she had more success in the lessons. She was learning at about the same speed as her peers - something she found encouraging having grown up without magic around. It could be a struggle trying to keep up with the half-bloods and purebloods, the ones who had the advantage of growing up around other magical people. Sometimes Amity wondered if maybe she would have had such an advantage if she knew who her birth parents were.
Her birth parents. They were what brought her up to the owlery. She had been leaning against the wall penning yet another letter to the mother who had given her up. Amity had lost count of how many attempts she had made to contact her mother, yet something in her kept trying even with every returned owl. She did her best to keep this letter pleasant; it often could be hard to keep her anger about being given up.
"Do me a favor Archie, don't let her send you back with my letter, make her read it mate." Amity gave the owl an affection scratch as she carried him to the window to set him free. She knew the owl couldn't make her mother read the letter, nor could she force the owl to not return with the very same letter. All Amity hoped was that as Archie flew off into the sky that he would bring back the letter she had been trying to receive for years now. Amity couldn't move from where she stood, she wanted to watch Archie as if maybe some how she was sending luck to this letter.
