i won't waste a day unless i'm wasting my days with you
The end of the term was so close you could almost see it, except it wasn't something you saw it was something that just happened. The year had been, interesting, for Apollo. As a sixth year he had not made prefect but he had served as the Captain of the quidditch team. Cassandra had appeared in his life again - in her own Cassandra way; an occurrence that still crossed Apollo's mind even after half a year.
Ollivander was an interesting person. There had been some drama revolving around her twin sister back when Apollo was still a fifth year, of course he had stayed out of it. Apollo wasn't exactly the keenest on gossip - and Xylina was nice, he didn't care to listen to any thing spread about her. Apollo liked to think he respected Xylina, as a person and a friend. She deserved to not have him paying attention to rumors and gossip - positive or negative.
The common room was quiet these days, with O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s so close everyone seemed to be off in the library or in classrooms with professors and tutors trying to get as much help as they could before the days dawned. Test season was the time of year when Apollo didn't care so much for being a ravenclaw - so many people turned ugly when their competitive side came out and with the house of knowledge this might as well be the house cup only there are no teams in tests. Apollo took the backlash from his classmates for being 'that' ravenclaw, the one who studied in the common room or their dorm because they felt they were ready. Who actually wanted to try and step foot in the library this season?
Making his way down from the dorm in a casual outfit of jeans and a clean loosing fitting t-shirt Apollo looked around the common room, it was empty enough just a few other housemates doing their own thing. She was always easy to find, the red hair helped, but there was something about her that always made her stand out just a little more than others - at least to Apollo. Being a year below her they never had much time, a few meals and the hit or miss in the commons. Xylina had her main group of friends, but this year had been different hadn't it? He had found they had a little more time this year, a few more interactions, he knew more about her - not just about her classes and marks.
He was quiet when he approached where she sat on the couch, he wasn't sure if she had her sketch book or a note book but he found himself curious about which it was. Tapping her shoulder he quickly ducked down and tried to (and not exactly successfully) sneak around the furniture to sit beside her. "Hey Xyl, what are you working on?" At this point Apollo was trying to get peek hoping it was her art. Artists tended to be so shy about their works before they were finished but there was something about watching progress that Apollo just loved.
Backing off he settled into the spot he was sat in. "So....almost exam time - the last exams, for you that is..." The struggle of interacting with those outside your year, some leave before you and others you leave before. In this case, she would be graduating soon. Now, this past year Apollo had been trying to gain Xylina's attention, or at least for the better part of the school year. Maybe it was just because he was finally getting to know more about her, the curiosity was just increasing her appeal. Still Apollo couldn't help but feel like he had wasted most the year in trying to get somewhere with her - he hadn't even managed to ask her out, the most he managed was asking if she was going to be watching the games like every other student. He was hopeless, and now - now she was about to graduate. "Must be exciting."

Xylina was a Ravenclaw for a reason, she loved learning and reading about new things. There was never a day she could say she was honestly tired of learning until now. All her teachers were trying to review everything they thought the students should know...which was every fucking thing, and she was fed up with it. Deciding to take a much needed studying and she was hiding out in the common room. Thankfully having no reason or desire to leave from the comfort of the couch she had traded her normal school attire for a pair of fuzzy socks and comfortable sweats. The best thing about relaxing in the common room had to be the fireplace, it always brought her some sort of comfort. Because of this her favorite past time was sketching It, which had become a sort of desires routine for her. With each new sketch she tried to be more accurate then the previous last, no matter how detailed she felt she couldn’t capture the liveliness of flames just right. Then there was the matter what time she was sketching, depending on the day the fire place looked different. Sometimes - like tonight - there were firsts year laying sprawled out on the rug in front of it. She would never ask them to move, she new how comforting the warmth could be after a long day. Which was why she was currently trying to make said first year fit into her picture without asking them to move from the awkward spread out angle they so expertly contorted themselves. She heard Apollo's voice and her first thought was to close her sketchbook. Then again she figured since she had about twenty sketches of the fireplace...showing one wouldn't hurt. "Sketching the fireplace" she said tilting her book slightly for him to see. Apollo was a mystery to her, they had gotten close over the school year with all the rumors floating around that wasn't an easy feat for her. Letting someone besides the friends she’d grew up with in, that was probably the hardest thing she's ever done. Still she enjoyed Apollo's company and counted him as one of the people she would miss when she left Hogwarts. "Thrilled, I cant wait for all this studying to be over. What about you? You excited about the end of the year?" She asked as she moved over so she could turn and face him. It was a wonder she had managed to somewhat manage to befriend him. Most of the time she spent her time awkwardly talking to classmates and then complaining to Icarus about her lack of a love life since allllllllll her friends were dating in complicated triangles that lead to rumors being spread. Rumors which he never seemed to bring up and she didn't feel inclined to address. Still friends that didn't date her sister...or almost get eaten by her sister were a godsend. It was nice to know that her awkward attempts had been successful. She even started going the games more frequently, of course she played it off as school spirit. No one had to know she was only cheering for one person. No, this was probably all in her head, most likely. Which was why she wasn't going to push this by awkwardly flirting because knowing how to flirt and actually successfully flirting were two different things. One was just knowledge she was a Ravenclaw she knew shit, that was inevitable. The other had a 1 in 50 chance of success that would probably end up in flames, She didn't need anyone to witness that train wreck. What if he flirted back? Then she'd have to follow up flirt. What if he didn't flirt back, that would be hella awkward. "Are you ready for the game coming up? I got my flag pressed and everything" She smiling a little, hoping that didn't sound as dorky as she thought it did. APOLLO JAMES BORDEN

i won't waste a day unless i'm wasting my days with you
Xylina was a talented artist, at least in Apollo's opinion. Of course in terms of art his only real talent was with the cello. It was always interesting to sneak a peek at the sketches that she did, and a little more interesting than peeking at a report. He smiled in approval, non-verbal praise. Maybe he should have said something but it was strange to shower anyone in compliments and not seem as if you had a motive in doing so. So he offered up a smile and nod instead.
Apollo shrugged when Xylina asked if he was excited for the end of the year. "I'll be happy to have my exams done, although that means I am just a little bit closer to those exams being N.E.W.T.s." Sure a good test that got his mind turning was great, but the seventh year exams would decide if you could do what you wanted with your life. Of course Apollo was the sort that made sure he met his life goals but that didn't mean he never experienced doubts while trying to reach them. The end of the year also meant that Xylina would be graduating. Since his birthday was not until August it wouldn't be until late into summer that he would legally be allowed to freely use magic outside of the school as well. Which meant he couldn't travel alone until after his August birthday, assuming he passed the apparition test before the end of the school year.
"Though looking at it like that, it'll also mean that I am a year closer to being finished with the N.E.W.T.s." Apollo had been focusing on becoming an obliviator since his third year. He had been quickly fascinated with the magics involved with the mind. Control, modification, restoration - the things you could do and the things that they had yet to learn. it was all fascinating to the young man. Of course it also meant that he had a lot of hard work and a lot of studying to get to where he wanted to be.
He couldn't help but smirk when she asked about the game, she sounded like a total dork for pressing her flag in advance - and really just for pressing her flag. But Xylian was the cute sort of dork. "You pressed your flag? Did you even use an anti-wrinkle charm because with how you'll be waving it, well it would just be a shame if the time you spent pressing it went you waste." Apollo found himself chuckling by the end, who would have ever thought that Xylina might actually be looking forward to going to a house game. "If you really want to show your house spirit you could always just ask to borrow my spare jersey."
Of course Apollo acted like he had made a simple suggestion. It wasn't like they were in a muggle high school where the jock gave some girl his varsity jacket and that was his way of asking her out; but Apollo was testing the waters almost. He wanted to see what her reaction was - positive, negative, neutral? It wasn't as if you just handed your quidditch jerseys around - than again a number of quidditch players often neglected to send theirs to the house elves for washing and just had dirty jerseys that no one wanted to wear. Apollo was not one of those dirty quidditch players though, his jerseys were always fresh as he took pride in his sport and his performance.

Xylina scrunched her face at the mention of exams "Don't rush to the exams, they want you to go over everything...and I do mean everything. Class inst even fun anymore it's just revision all the time." She stated a bit sadly, then again she understood that some people needed refreshers on somethings and it would help her in the long. She was just the type of person who was always looking to learn new things. She didn't like the idea of leaving the Hogwarts library behind as well as the thought of not being able to ask her teachers questions about things that confused her. Things would definitely be different next year and she didn't know if she was ready to move on. Even if she acted that way outwardly, inwardly she still didn't have anything figured out. Considering she had the tendency to over think certain things that wasn't normal for her. "Yes, do you know what you wanna do when you leave this place?" It was always nice to hear what career goals people had. Xylina knew that her goals would probably revolve around art or inventing but she just didn't know how yet. She knew she had at least a year to figure it out. Her parents wouldn't automatically kick her out while she was getting her life together.Still it was nice to know that her friends had plans, she didn't think she could deal with them asking her for advice when she didn't even have it together. Normally Xylina was pretty good at keeping a cool head in times of difficulty. In fact she was pretty good at being the voice of reason, telling her friends to go after their crush. Xylina was not good however, at anything involving boys. It would seem being any kind of part of veela did not help her any at all. It was all because she was a giant dork, when he repeated back what she about the flag, she inwardly groaned. She had meant it as a joke, she was not good with jokes apparently. She blushed and shook her head "Nah didn't have the time, but ill definitely remember before the game starts." She managed to get out trying to find something else to try and make her self seem like less of a dork. Although she wasn't even sure that was possible now that she thought of it. He suggested she borrow his jersey, it was like an offer and a question all in one. Lina didn't exactly know how to handle this. In fact she didn't know how to handle this at all...did she say yes? This was the last game of the year, her last game of the year. Maybe it was a good thing to show a little extra house spirit right? "I mean if it's not being used...I wouldn't mind wearing it...if that's okay with you." She figured that was asking right? Was she supposed to say it a different way? She waited to see if he would take his offer back, after all she was joking about the flag he could've been joking about the jersey. APOLLO JAMES BORDEN

i won't waste a day unless i'm wasting my days with you
It was easy to understand what Xyl meant as she spoke about the exams, revising was exactly why the teen was ready for teh exams to be over. As Ravenclaws so many assumed they loved all forms of studying. Much like Xyl, Apollo, preferred his education focus on new knowledge instead of being heavily focus on reviewing. Nevertheless review had its purpose and many students needed; didn't mean it could seem mind numbing. "I'm not all that keen on it really, all the revising I have to look forward to that is. I know there is plenty more the professors have to teach me, but if watching you this year has taught me anything its that I'm not all that envious of you. Next year I'll be the poor sod wondering when the revising will end." Seventh year was the most important though, it was your time to shine and show just how much you had learned, which unfortunately meant revision was essential.
Apollo nodded as she asked if he knew what he knew what his focus was. "I have an idea, yes...I mean I have options too I guess, but I knack with the mind you know. At least, in theory, and I find it all fascinating really - so I'm rather keen to try and get the marks that'll allow me to work as an obliviator." It wasn't his only option, no you just had to take a look at his school activities and his classes to know he had left himself room for other options. Apollo wasn't foolish and knew that there was a lot that would factor into his future employment. Maybe it was another reason why he made such an effort with Quidditch and the cello - maybe not solid job options but they were still options he was leaving for himself. "If it doesn't work out I'm sure I will be looking at some offers from teams, beaters seem to have a certain demand to them." It was clear Apollo had confidence, in his goals and himself. Not to say there was no doubt - Apollo tired to be realistic, tried - when he was around Xylina sometimes he felt more confident. Perhaps it was just a different sort of confidence.
"I do believe spare implies it won't be in use" Apollo cheekily gave Xyl a playful nudge. Her answer had clearly been what he had been hoping for, even if he didn't realize there was an answer he had been wanting. "We can get it from the locker room later, save you from having you try and find me in there on game day..." Apollo trailed off for a moment as he thought about what he was saying. It was a nice thought, Xylina showing up before he could give the team their pregame talk - the things people would say. He bit at his lip letting his mind linger in his little daydream - but only for a moment. "Maybe after dinner, before curfew." He picked up as if he hadn't trailed off. "Unless you want to trade your fuzzy socks for shoes and come fetch it with me now" He made a grab at her socked toes to put extra attention on her fuzzy socks a smirk lingering on his lips all the while.

[blockuote] Xylina let a small playful smirk grace her face "I wanna say it won be that bad, but I'm kind of at the point where I think other years should suffer too" the statement was followed by a small laugh to show she was joking. As they drifted away from her pending NEWTS and towards career options she found herself impressed. Being an Oblivator was a pretty good job. Of course you had to have the grades and the skills, both of which she was sure Apollo had. "I think you'll make an excellent Oblivator and if not, ill be sure to make my favorite team which ever one you get signed too." She gave him an encouraging smile. She was good at encouraging her friends to take chances, encouraging herself now that was a whole other story. Xylina felt her cheeks heat up slightly, of course it did. She was new to this whole thing so as long as he was rolling with her dorkiness she was gonna go forward. She thought over the offer for a moment. If she went with him now there would be less rumors about her showing up at the locker room before the game. Considering they were at school for most of the year, the students had nothing better to do than talk about who was dating who. She smiled and looked down at her fuzzy socks, which were very comfortable and didn't really want to leave. However, she was excited to get the jersey because maybe just maybe she had a small little crush on the boy sitting next to her. "We can go know ill just slip my trainers over them" she wordlessly summoning her shoes and her bag This was the best way, they could talk and there was no worry about getting back before curfew, or returning to a common room full nosey classmates. Once she had her stuff she carefully put them on, they felt a bit tight since her socks were unusually bulky. "Alright I'm ready if you are." she said standing up and shoving her art stuff into her bag. She was still giving him a chance to back out. Of course there was a small part of her hoping that he wouldn't and by small she meant hippogriff sized, it was always nice to be in denial. APOLLO JAMES BORDEN

i won't waste a day unless i'm wasting my days with you
Hearing Xylina compliment his job choices did make his chest swell somewhat with pride. Apollo liked to think that he carefully thought out his life and the choices he made. Hearing praise about his plans only made him feel as if he was doing something right at the very least. Of course he knew he was still young and there was a lot about life he had left to learn. Never the less it didn't mean he couldn't feel confident that he was headed down a well thought out path.
It was hard not to miss the was her cheeks seem to flush at his proposition. Apollo couldn't help but bite his lip as he looked at her, she was rather cute when she blushed - perhaps cute wasn't the right word, she was beautiful and only a fool would try and deny that. Still, something about knowing he was causing this blush, it was hard not feel flattered by the effect he seemed to be having on her today.
"I guess you will want me to thank you, for not making me carry you there instead." Maybe now he was just seeing how far he could push, could you blame him for wanting to see if she could blush a deeper shade of red? His eyes never faltered from her as he watched her summon her shoes and slip them onto her feet.
Apollo's trainers were already upon his feet, he didn't own fluffy socks like his friend so he often resorted to just wearing his shoes around the castle. So when she asked if he was ready Apollo stood up with a smirk lingering on his face. "Look how keen you are, if I knew I could get you this excited about a game I might have offered my jersey to you sooner."
Reaching over Apollo took her back and slung it over one of his shoulders. Maybe it was a bit much, too forward - but he was also trying to follow her subtle lead. Didn't she want his attention? His next action wasn't exactly romantic but he guessed there was a potential for her to feel slightly uncomfortable. Still Apollo reached out and lightly took her hand to lead her to the portal so they could make their way to the locker rooms on the pitch. "Let's go get you my jersey than.

The moment he finished his sentence her face flushed a brilliant shade of red and Xylina knew she was not prepared. Although she'd deny it, it took a minute for her to come up with an intelligent response. Life was a funny thing every time you were sure you had things planned, life showed you otherwise. Which was exactly how Xylina was feeling at the moment. She had no training, no escape plan, and she sure as hell had no idea how to deal with the images that were floating around her mind. "Darn that was an option? I'll have to remember that next time" she managed to get out sounding somewhat normal. Of course the redness in her cheeks still present. Not because of his words, no it had more to do with her wondering if she could actually pick her up. After all he did play Quidditch and that did require a certain level of fitness. Plus he was a beater so a certain level of..... she took a deep breath to clear her mind she was not gonna allow herself to get lost in that thought. "Yes, well now that I am excited you have to make sure you win. Or you'll never hear the end of it" she gave him a cheeky smile to show she was only kidding. This was still her friend Apollo right? Just because she was oddly aware of how attractive he was should change nothing. At least thats what she told herself as he took her bag and held her hand. It wasn't that the gesture was unwanted, she just had no idea how to respond. It wasn't a lie to say that she didn't pay much attention to the male population of the school, this was all so new. After all they were friends, she had already been incredibly dorky and it was all down hill from here. That still didn't stop her from in the mental freaking out she was doing. Calm Xylina on the outside mental Xylina on the inside, that was gonna be her new motto. Following him out the portrait hole she thought of something "So do I give it back after the game or do i get to borrow it for a couple days?"APOLLO JAMES BORDEN

i won't waste a day unless i'm wasting my days with you
"I guess next time you'll have to ask and find out if it's an option" Apollo had smirked, but in his chest he could feel the rise of his pulse as he blush deepened. It was one thing to flirt with some friends but for Xylina this was, new - or at least newer. Apollo never had cared to waste too much time with anything meaningless, so this - it meant something to the teenager. He was young, but Apollo had always been the sort to set his sights on something and than go for it.
Of course he smiled as she mentioned they had to win. It was always his hope and intention to win - but sometimes they were out maneuvered. Still he knew she was making a joke, more or less. He even chuckled a little, but more so because of what said as they left the common room. "Not a moment ago you demand that I win, but what if I loose, you really want to wear a loser's jersey around for a couple days for all to see?" He didn't say no, at least not out right. "I'll just need it back before end of the year, for equipment inventory." Again, it wasn't a no - just that he would need it back.
As they made their way through the castle and down the lawns to the pitch the thought crossed Apollo's mind that he could offer to let Xylina borrow his quidditch robe after the game, but - that could wait, until things were...not so unknown. They were quieter than normal as they walked, his hand lightly cupped around her's. It didn't seem right to try and lace his fingers with her's - this was all knew for them after all and there were already enough eyes that she likely thought were upon them. Truth be told Apollo was positive that maybe only two or three people had even given a care as they had made their way together, but it didn't matter he wasn't going to push to hard - that wasn't how things like this worked. Making their way to the pitch Apollo lead her down to the Ravenclaw locker room.
"Mind there might be a smell, I think we've grown accustom to it, so sorry" Thinking quick Apollo pulled his wand from his pocket with his free hand and muttered the air freshening spell his mum so often used before company would arrive as they entered the locker room. Carefully he set her bag down on the nearest bench that sat between the rows of lockers.
"Mine will be over here you see - have you ever been in here actually? I can't say I recall any of your friends being on the team before but for all I know you could have been in here before. Anyways, this one is mine just give me a moment -" Apollo softly dropped her hand from his to open up the locker where - just as he promised - his spare jersey, along with his game day jersey hung. Carefully Apollo grabbed the spare and held it in both is hands.
"Well, hands up Xyl, we need to see how it fits." It would be hard not to say that Apollo's smirk was not slightly devilish, the boy had a plan. He always had been the sort to set his sight on something and than go for it. So here they were, in the locker room, alone. Just her, him, and a jersey he was asking to put on her. He had taken the jersey by the bottom so he could easily put it over her head and arms (in an assisting way, not the trapping - he wasn't some freak). And once she would let him put the jersey on it would just be him and her with nothing between them and just the lockers behind her. Apollo couldn't help but bite his lower lip in anticipation.

Even has she nodded to his reply Xylina knew that she would probably not ask next time. That would of course mean that there had to be a next time and while she wanted that very much, she wasn't going to plan too far ahead. No for now she was content with whatever this was, because as embarrassing as it was she had to admit it was fun. "I mean, losers need support to" She said snickering to herself, this was the part she could do. Joking around with a friend didn't seem that bad. Except when the friend was hot and you still had images of them carrying you shirtless in the back of your mind. "That sounds reasonable, although im not sure when id get the opportunity to wear it again." Thinking about how it would look to wear just for wandering around the castle. She almost wished this had happened sooner in the year. "I don't mind" She said shrugging her shoulders, even if there was a smell she was to polite to say anything. She did appreciate the warning and the spell she muttered. She had assumed a locker room would smell…well like a locker room. "Nope, never been anywhere other than the stands. As much as I like the spell work behind brooms and such…not one for them and Im not sure any of my friends are either." She tried to imagine Icarus on a broom but couldn't really picture it. This was the moment of truth, she could step up or chicken out. She was well aware of how close they would need to be for him to help her with the shirt. In her mind there was no going back after that. She'd read her fair share of romance novels -not that she admit it- she knew this was the whole awkward silence build up moment. Gathering up the courage she didn't possess she stepped forward and let him Help her put the jersey on. They were awfully close and she couldn't help but notice how tall he was. " Fits well enough I suppose, what do you think?"APOLLO JAMES BORDEN

i won't waste a day unless i'm wasting my days with you
When she stepped forward he assisted in placing the jersey over her head. It gave him a few minutes to acknowledge that he was now finding himself somewhat nervous. Sure, it played out easily enough in his head and he was sure the odds were with him - Apollo was smart but that honestly had so very little to do with what was going on. It wasn't as if he hadn't made a move on a girl before, or kissed a girl for that matter; it was more the fact that this girl was Xylina. His moment to think was soon over as it didn't take long for his jersey to slide down her face and settle onto her body. His hands had moved with it, what could he say no matter what it wasn't as if you were getting him to give up a free opportunity to casually run his hands down the curves of her side and hips. Yes her hips where his hands not were resting with what might have seemed like ease.
Apollo was not exactly easy though. It wasn't easy to ignore the nerves he had been building up now. This was likely another reason why he would have never made it as a gryffindor - not like his sister Cassandra. Of course he knew what he wanted and it was within his reach but Apollo still couldn't just dive right in. Instead he found himself staring at the strawberry haired girl caught up in the number of ways he could go for what he wanted. It was her voice that brought Apollo back to the moment. His smirk was quick to return when he registered that she had asked him what he thought. He'd have to bite his tongue on how he felt it could be taken in a bit, show off that curves a bit more. "I'd say it suits you...."
As he said this, Apollo seemed to tighten his hold on her somewhat. He wasn't trying to be forceful just, forward. Sometimes you had to be a little obvious with girls like Xylina. There was a line between forward and rude that Apollo didn't care to cross though - no matter how keen he seemed. He had some height on her which helped make his motions and motive obvious. Slowly Apollo leaned in closer to Xylina, he didn't go right in for a kiss - sure he went almost all the way but instead he was careful to wait and see if she would meet him. Apollo was not about to force anything on someone who didn't want it. The few seconds that were to pass next would seem like a life time was he waited to feel the warmth of her her close lips to become a kiss or to find himself faced as a fool.

Xylina was a practical girl and like most practical girls she had her life for the next there to four years planned out. She was pretty sure everything was going to eventually turn out exactly how she wanted it, when she wanted it. Mostly because she was very careful when making her choices. Yet she hadn’t by any stretch of the imagination planned on any of this happening, especially so close to the end of the school year. It was only fitting that her first crush and however fleeting somewhat “romance” happen before she was done with school. Because let’s face it , any flirting that she did could be classified as romance and she’d need a brick to get the message. It wasn’t exactly a brick but a slight tint to her cheeks at the compliment, as if she hadn’t blushed enough in that one in night to last her a life time. ” Cool, cool’ she said with a small mostly to herself.
This was no easy feat given that she was extremely aware of how close they were, where his hands were places, and how easy it would be for them to kiss. A kiss which she hadn’t planned for when she was making her road map to the next four years. Yet as he leaned forward she couldn’t help but be excited for the slight detour. She closed the slight distance between them to meet his lips, grateful for the opportunity to change her mind, though she was sure icarus would judge her if she did.
When they separated she tried to look anywhere but his face because it was very hard to not do that blushing thing. ”So that uh- that happened” She said rubbing the back of her neck was not sure what to do now. There wasn’t like a manual for this and she doubted Witch Weekly was gonna help her with this, not that she read that trash.
