I paced around for hours, on empty, I jumped at the slightest of sounds XANDER SHAYNE MOON , 385, ♥ my math might be a little off, its the summer after she graduated! "There! See Xander its clear as day its a sphinx, there's the mane, and those are the wings there!" She pointed up the the grouping of clouds that, perhaps, looked like a sphinx. Summer, about the only time they could get days like this, sunny with clouds that is. The grassy hill they laid upon was soft and the smell of the earth was almost comforting. Reminded her of when they had played her back in their childhoods.
Childhood. It was strange to think she was moving past that part of her life. Independence was something she would be expected to be seeking soon. Moving from the childhood home and integrating with the real world. She'd wanted to become an oblivator for some time now. It was hard to explain what drew her interest to much, than again was it really that hard to understand that the mind was a fascinating thing? "You think it normally takes this long to hear back from them, the ministry that is? I mean, it seemed like everything was in order....same from the professors..."
She'd always been the nervous sort, doubtful too. Sometimes she still questioned how she ever managed to be counted among hogwarts 'most proud and brave'. Though if you thought about it the Ravenclaws would try and claim to be the proudest. Still, why must she ruin a lovely afternoon with her brother with her stupid fears and doubts? "Probably got one of those shite post owls with a bum wing or something, or one that can't navigate to save its life."
It was never easy to just get away from serious topic, even when it hadn't been entirely intentional in being brought up. Still Nyx gave it her best of course. "Speaking of owls......have you heard from Aria? I still wish she could have come back for the celebration...." It had been foolish for Nyx to have gotten her hopes up about Arira coming back home to celebrate her graduation, letters were all they ever got these days - and sometimes not even that. Well two for two Nyx, such bright and cheery topics. Maybe Xander had heard from her though, and maybe she would be coming back home soon. Than they all would be together again....it was a nice thought at the very least. And I couldn't stand the person inside me I turned all the mirrors around

Xanader always enjoyed the time that he spent with his younger sister. A beautiful summer day where he lay outside watching the clouds picking out the shapes in the sky above. ”There! See Xander it's clear as day it's a sphinx, there's the mane and those are the wings there!” Xander grinned as his eyes caught what Nyx pointed at towards the sky. He chuckled, ”Hopefully it won't give us a riddle that we can't solve,” he had to joke. It was nice, Nyx being back out of school. It seemed like they had all the time in the world once again.
He was happy that he didn't have any games or practice during this time. He was always happy to spend his time with his sister. The conversation turned slightly serious. ”I was scouted from school for the Kestrels, I am not sure I can honestly answer that, but I would assume that everything is still in order, I wouldn't begin to worry, maybe they're just letting you adjust to being an adult before joining the ministry,” he told her of her application to become an oblivator now. She was more than qualified for it. He turned from lying on his back to leaning on his side to look at her. ”The professors seemed hopeful, I wouldn't get bummed down yet,” he told her.
”Probably got one of those shite post owls with a bum wing or something, or one that can't navigate to save its life.” Xander shook his head. ”No, your owl was fine, which ever owl they'll use to send you your acceptance letter will also be fine,” he told her with a smile. He would refuse to believe that she wouldn't get it and would just continue to help her and support her until whatever news came their way.
They went from one serious topic to another serious topic. She brought up Aria. ”I sent her one about the celebration, I let her know she was missed, but I've currently not heard back from her, I heard from her before the celebration so it could just be a delay in communication,” he told her with a reassuring smile. ”You're really picking the topics today, aren't you?” he asked her, not really expecting a reply back. ”If we don't hear from here more regularly I may go see if I may be able to visit her during the off season,” he suggested to his sister.
”How about something that is a little happier, this go around,” he suggest. He then tried to think about what he could to make it a little happier. ”Speaking of being picked up by the Kestrels, I got you a ticket to come to my next match this weekend, if you want to come, always fun to have your face in the stands,” he said with a smile. It wasn't much but it was something. It helped to think about how nice it would be for her to join him at his match. It was always nice to have his family at matches.

I paced around for hours, on empty, I jumped at the slightest of sounds Nyx couldn't help but grin ear from ear as her brother made a joke. "I be we could figure out any riddle it'd would give us - we're unstoppable Xan." At least when they were together it felt like that - sometimes. Right now counted. It felt like ages since they held company with each other, at least like this. She'd missed it - but life was still changing so she wondered if missing it was truly going to change anytime soon.
At least she could be thankful he has the free time - not that it was a chore to watch him play. Watching Xander play was possibly one of her favorite things to do. Speaking of playing Nyx turned her head to look at her brother as he explained what it was like for him to graduate and get work. "Why can't more jobs be practical like quidditch and scout us out? I mean...So I can't just go around modify muggle's memories to prove I can do it...it just would be quicker if there was a - system."
Of course Nyx tried but it didn't mean she was the brightest in all matters - and the worst at waiting for news in any sort of timely manner. Sighing she smiled softly as Xander reassured her it was fine, and it was going to be fine. He was right - most likely - he wasn't often wrong. Reaching out she ruffled up his gingery locks. "I got the best brother in the world you know, you're the best Xan."
Nyx was notorious for overthinking and worrying over nothing, this was obviously no different. But Aria...Nyx found herself sitting up as Xander explained about their elder sister. It had hurt, her not returning for her graduation but it worried her more - what if she needed them? Nyx bit at her lip and tried not to fall down a rabbit hole thought - Xander wouldn't let Aria get into danger, at least not by letting her stay in the [figurative] dark for too long.
"Sorry, I guess its just hard not to worry - its never been this long with out word and...I really miss her." Nyx counted herself lucky - she had a brother and a sister, and yes she adored Xander but Aria and her had a different type of relationship. How many secrets had been shared between the weaving of their hair? She missed those days so much. But Xander's reassurance helped bring the smile back to her face - it would be okay, Xander would make sure of it.
She was thankful he decided to pick their next topic, after all she was proving to be horrid at keeping matters light. The excitement was becoming clear when he said he had a ticket for her. "Of course I'm coming to your game Xander! All your teammates are going to be jealous because I'm going to make sure everyone is cheering your name." It was likely she would do her best to get those around her cheering for her brother - she used to do it back in school, her house didn't take too well to her cheering on Hufflepuff though. "I guess that's another perk of graduating, I can make all your games now - and until I get my letter of acceptance at the Ministry I can come pester you after your training as well." Yes, thinking about time with her brother was helping do the trick of bring back the light mood. And I couldn't stand the person inside me I turned all the mirrors around

Words: 391 | Tag: NYX DIONE MOON Notes: Thought of them not seeing each other is just heart breaking. ”I think all jobs other than sports are like that, in the fact that they do not go around scouting people out for their jobs,” he said laughing about the thought of future obliviators going around modifying muggle memories. ”I could see some serious damages from scouting for a job like yours,” he told her with a grin.
”I got the best brother in the world you know, you’re the best Xan.” Xander smiled wide when she said it. ”I’ve got the best sisters in the world as well, couldn’t ask for better.” There was Nyx, no questions about it, she was amazing. Nyx and Xander had always been super close. But Xander had also been pretty close to Aria before she left. He was serious about going to find Aria if he had to. He missed the three of them being together.
”It’s always hard to not worry, trust me, you’re not the only one. We both miss her a lot, but she’s got to do her own thing, but we’ll all be together again,” he promised her. It was difficult to have a positive outlook especially with the less they received communication from her. But there was hope, and maybe that was all the Hufflepuff alumnus needed.
”Just like games in school. I still remember some of the dirty looks you’d get when cheering Hufflepuff instead of Gryffindor when our houses played together,” he smiled wide. But then she mentioned pestering him at training. ”I don’t know if I can handle you that much,” he told her with a laugh, ”but then again I guess we would be able to get drinks afterwards.” He was so happy that she supported him through all she did. She was always there for him. Only when she had been at school would he have looked into the stands and not seen her. But she was always there. He hoped that the day would never come where he looked out at the stands and would not see her. ”Speaking of drinks, we should grab some after the sun sets,” he told her. He wanted to enjoy all the time they had. After losing one sister he couldn’t think of the unthinkable of losing his other.

I paced around for hours, on empty, I jumped at the slightest of sounds Even when Xander laughed at her words she didn't feel embarrassed, well maybe a little but not enough to shy away from the matter. Still her statement at amused her brother and that was enough for Nyx. Regardless it made her feel better to hear him laugh. He always made her feel better.
"Yeah, well at least I can I say I have the best sister in the world and not offend anyone" Her statement was very tongue in cheek, as Xander had two sisters and she only had one. It wasn't as if he had teased once or twice that Aria was better - and it wasn't as if she could have actually disagreed...Aria was the best. At everything. Of course Nyx knew her brother loved her sister and her equally - and greatly. She reached out to grab his hand in hers tightly for a moment. "We're all pretty lucky we got each other."
Yes she trusted her brother to figure out the matter with the elder sister. No truer hufflepuff had she met - and her had never let her down before, or Aria that she knew of so why would he start now? Softly Nyx let her brother's hand go of her brother's hand and returned it to sitting upon her own knee. A smirk spreading across her lips as he spoke of the looks she got from her housemates when she cheered on her brother instead of her own house team.
"It was worth it, after all you wouldn't be this good with out me and my cheering Xan, I made you feel like a star." No she didn't actually mean all of it, though she knew she did feed into her brother's confidence she was not the root of it. That wasn't going to stop her from making the joke all the time though. It was what annoying little sisters were for.
Nyx felt pleased as Xan expressed that maybe that would be too much of her for him. Of course she wouldn't be as excessive as she had been back in school...as if that was so long ago. Well her time with him had seemed to be, still this was his job now - not just a game. "Maybe, just for you, I'll control myself a little. Just so you'll actually still be seen with me in a pub or bar."
It was nice to start having this new 'adult' relationship with Xander. It had been a natural progression with him, although he still obviously treated her like his kid sister - she was and always would be after all. This didn't bother Nyx in anyway, she'd hope it would always be that way. 'WE should, before mum tries to get me to stay in for the night - I can't wait till I get a job and can get a flat..."
Yes she loved their parents but Xander no doubt understood what Nyx was feeling. This was a time of exploring and figuring yourself out, being stupid and having fun. But parents never are keen on you coming home at three in the morning drunk and no fresh teenage adult wants to be home on a Friday night at ten at night in bed sleeping. And I couldn't stand the person inside me I turned all the mirrors around
